8hp70, Pure, upgraded internals?
Hey yall!
I have a 2018 340ix with a pure turbo, meth, the 9 yards. Making around 650tq and it’s finally come time where I’m getting transmission issues. I looking for personal experience or opinions on which route I should go based on price, install, longevity. I personally would like to do something like the 8hp70 or clutch pack (internal upgrade from jacks transmission) as it’s cheaper for the parts but I feel like it might cost more in labor as for clutch packs the trans would need taken apart and the hp70 is not 100% direct fit. On the flip side the most ideal for ease would be a direct drop in pure stage 1 trans but it’s 6k. Has anyone used any of these option and and input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

I'm the only person here with a PDS transmission. They are local to me. I am OEM+ all the way. A trans swap will no be fun. Getting coding and everything correct. Not only that but the hp70 is much larger and there isn't much room in the trans tunnel for a larger tranny. PDS can basically bulletproof your current trans will all billet internals. It will be stronger than a stock hp70.

I drive my car everyday. I have about 30k on my PDS transmission with no issues. Building the car I always said, "when it comes time for the trans, I'm done" well that went out the window. I was having way too much fun with the car. PDS has a few different stages of transmission from a basic rebuild, all the way up to a billet-everything-even-the-housing. But for a daily, stage 1 will be more than enough for what you need. Check out their instagram page Pure Drivetrain Solutions they post a lot of their r&d there. |
