ISTA+ ICOM programming psdz data / SDP question

I'm running into an issue as I'm attempting to program a used transfer case to my f31 wagon. I've tried researching what to do if your ISTA+ doesn't have a data_swi folder but have not been able to figure it out yet.
I think it might be related to a lack of psdzdata. I see that many VM ISTA+ machines do not include the SDP files to save size.
I'm running a VM (From Kretzu) with ISTA+ and an ICOM clone, everything connects fine to the car, aside from the "Programming could not be initialized" message when you launch ISTA+.
If I'm understanding everything correctly, I need psdz data, which is the SDP or data+swi files in order to program through ISTA+, I think I need the full psdzdata not the lite.
When I check in C/Rhinegold/Psdzdata I do not have a data_swi folder, does anyone have any guidance on how to best get that? Does my version of ISTA+ matter?
Do you simply paste the swi_data in psdzdata or is there in install procedure?
Does the version of ISTA+ matter and only work with certain versions of the psdzdata?

Below is a screenshot of my ISTA+ with version numbers.

If you want to program with ISTA you need the psdzdata full in the folder

...Rheingold/PSdZ/data_swi/psdzdata

If you have no folder data_swi you can create it yourself.
You can use any SDP you like.
And maybe you have to check before if the programming mode is activated.
So look in the ISTAGUI.exe.config and search these keys...

<add key="BMW.Rheingold.Programming.ExpertMode" value="true" />
<add key="BMW.Rheingold.Programming.Enabled" value="true" />
<add key="BMW.Rheingold.Programming.PsdzDataPath" value="..\..\..\PSdZ\data_swi" />

And then you maybe have another problem.
At an used EGS the ISN has to be resetted, otherwise it is not possible to program.
For that you need some special tools.

Thanks! I'm currently downloading v.4.28.32 psdzdata full, hopefully that is the correct versoion.
I will take a look at the ISTAGUI settings, and the ISN resetting like you mentioned, that is new to me.

Ah, since I am only doing the transfer case and not the entire transmission, I think I may be able to avoid the transmission issue.

I checked the ISTAGUI.exe.config and it looked like it should, created the data_swi folder and put the psdzdata that was on the VM into the data_swi folder. That cured the "programming system could not be initialized" ista startup message, but I still get the "Communication with VTG has been disrupted message" when I go to program it to the car. I can read settings from it, so I do not currently think it is a dead VTG.
I'm wondering if it need to math the psdzdata version to the cars i-level?

I've found the I-level in ista, now I think I need to track down the corresponding psdzdata, and possibly ISTA version?
I was also able to read to software version of the VTG itself
If I am able to figure this out I will make sure to make a separate post on how it is done for anyone else struggling with this, so far it is not as straightforward as I was hoping.

If i buy the original version of ISTA, do i need to look for my psdzdata car file?

Or everything is included?

Please don‘t pay for ISTA.
All sellers are downloading ISTA from a free website and making money with it.
BMW also doesn‘t sell the Original ISTA.
And you don‘t need to loo for your psdzdata.
Depending on the „seller“ or „source“ everything is included.
