Retrofitting Lightswitch Control Unit from F2X to F30

Retrofitting the Lightswitch Control Unit for BMW f20 f21 f52 f22 f23 f48 f49 f39 Part Number 6847524 to the BMW F30 2013-2019 model.

The difference is that the original F30 light switch has the thicker body. The schematics doesn’t look the same so if you have damaged schematics it will needs to be rewired. Basically, I took the F20 middle section, buttons, and the switch and put schematics, back panel and the front face panel from the F30 model. Since the body part has a few millimeter difference, the timing wheel sticks out more and gets trapped by the front face panel. So the hole for the wheel needs to be VERY CAREFULLY widened and then edges repainted. I used Tamiya Matte Black N33 for that. Very nice paint for plastic.
The backlight for the timing icon is also partially covered by the middle body section so you’ll have to adjust and cut off some plastic there too. (One of the photo I pointing to that with my finger)
There’s also photos comparing switches middle sections thickness (height). Which also affects that buttons are not swappable so the whole middle section and body should be swapped along with the buttons. The rotating switch is identical and can be removed by simply carefully pushing it from the inside (last pic).
The screws I put to hold the rebuilt switch in the F30 face panel allow adjust its depth in relation to the front (face) panel which I did since it looks a bit better that way IMHO.
The main reason for the swap was cracked F30 buttons, and weared off contact pads. I used identical contact pads from F20. Buttons too. They come off the 2017 model and look like new. F20 Control Panel is easier to get, and it’s twice as cheaper than the undamaged F30 used panel. I saved more than $140 on that.

The modified part is on the left bottom corner, this is F20 body adapted to fit the F30 front plate/fascia, there's few mm of plastic should be carefully removed to fit in:
