Factory exhaust

Carbon diffuser - https://www.vividracing.com/design-c...50788685.html#

I got this used for $500 canadian (it was new, but re-sold) and you can get a similar one on ebay, just make sure the opening is correct.

Knock off Chinese quad tips $200 canadian - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2PCS...754082894.html

NOTE: The tips list in the link are NOT GLOSS carbon, they are MATT carbon. They didn't have the MATTE finish ones in stock so they gave me the gloss ones, which I like better now anyway, they match the diffuser. Ask for the gloss ones.

NOTE: the tips were 1/8" too small, they couldn't clamp them down on the pipe. They had to weld on a slightly bigger pipe, then they clamped these on. These were the only pipes that I could find that were 76mm wide for the opening - WITH carbon fiber on them (which incidently matches really nicely which was a bonus).

I had a shop do the work for me ($300 canadian cash), they had to remove the bumper cover, it was easier. They did NOT cut or bend the factory exhaust, just cut it back and fit these on, but it was fiddly, and took 4 hours for the total job. The guys that did the work in Georgetown Ontario were mill wrights and friggin awesome.

Hello!

I have a 2014 435i and I'm making the same conversion. Do you think you could go with tips bigger than 3 inches? Are the tips supposed to rub against the diffuser or is there supposed to be some space between them and the diffuser?

Thank you!

For quad tips and the 435 you cannot go bigger that 3 inch tips plus the space between them.

There is the battery box on the right that gets in the way, and the fact that most of the diffusers I found had a 7” opening.

You can't have the tips touch the diffuser or it will rattle it has to fit

Nice, any bottom view pictures? I want to see how these tips are attached to the oem muffle to have a more clear idea on how much work is required

just realized these are the opposite of what is needed unless we want the outboard tips to be extended AFT rather than the inboard ones

Thinking of putting these together.
Quad opening diffuser and quad tips on factory exhaust (photo references)
Has anyone done this type of conversion?
I did see one of the replies saying the rear diffuser bought from euro auto parts doesn't need modifications, would these H style exhaust tips fit?

Well, I just got both the diffuser and the tips.
And no, the tips will not fit as quad opening on diffuser is too narrow, as it also left about 20-30mm in between the original tips and center part of diffuser.
The quad tips are 190mm, the opening is 190mm, I thought it'd be a tight fit but apparently for the quad tips to fit, opening on diffuser must be wider to at least 240mm. Which would either require either modding the opening or find a diffuser that has wide opening.
