I was looking for a used car when I got my GT, but if I had been shopping for new I might have gone for a Kia Stinger as it seemed like a fun car.

The Stinger looks interesting. I'm inclined to say that it borrows a lot from the GT.

I thought the same but left the Kia showroom to get the GC after finding the rear seat legroom quite inadequate. They managed to block the underseat space for rear seat toes to slide under the fronts. OTOH, was lots of fun to drive.

driving a kia is not an option as the folks living in my leafy suburb are quite snobbish and would think i lost my job or had a pay cut or something

Why would what someone else thinks of your car change what you choose to please yourself?

I noticed that too. The back seat reminded me of the 428 I drove. I really liked that car, but it was small. The Stinger seemed like a fairly large car, but the back seat is nowhere near as comfortable as the GT.

There is a really terrible joke in here somewhere, but I don't want to get banned!

However, if you like the Stinger, and I found much to like, and the back seat tightness isn't a problem, as it was for us, I would not give one moment's thought to the neighbors. Self-actualization rules!

If you're married no one else is going to do it for you. What do you say to a woman to get her to stop having sex with you? 'I do'.

I'd agree. If you love it, then keep it! And I feel your pain-- there's nothing out there like these cars.

The fastback look is everywhere now! I was at Hyundai talking lease-end (finally!!) and they showed me the new fastback they have to rival the Stinger and Accord.

What about the Audi S5 Sportback. It is a good size and nicely built. I was in between buying one of these and liked the GT better.

So the Panamerica looks are like an E46M3 exhaust. It’s awful on the outside but when you’re inside the vehicle driving it, you don’t care.

The lease terms were equivalent for the standard 3 series sedan (62% residual!!) So it was just an incredible value. I can't find anything that comes close. X3 maybe, but it's smaller. X5 would work, but it's so much more expensive. Tesla Model X or S also too expensive. Audi A7 is too small AND too expensive.

I can't find anything....
It's not a BMW, but I have considered the Kia Stinger GT, pretty much has all the same characteristics including the hatch. There's the VW Arteon, but wish it had more power.

And I guess in the US you can't get the 6 series? Then move to Canada! 😬

Before I bought my GT I test drove a Kia Stinger and a Buick Regal Sportback. I liked them both, but I decided I was going to get a used car and both those models were so new that there were hardly any used one available. Of course it wasn't that easy to find a BMW 3 GT either and I almost gave up. I prefer the BMW overall. The Kia is almost a bit too "boy racer" and the Buick isn't sporty enough. I think both cars might be longer as well and the BMW just barely fits in my garage.

I don't think they're longer. The wheelbases are shorter, although most cars have shorter wheelbases as a percentage of their overall length than BMW. That's one of the reasons why BMWs handle better than most other brands.

I had a 2018 S5 Sportback prior to my F34. I reallty liked all the tech, but rear seats were cramped and the car lacked any type of soul. I sold it to vroom for a good price after about 8 months of owning it.

The performance was definitely one step ahead of my F34 335, but I think i'm a BMW guy at heart.

As the OP, but no longer an F34er, I’m finding the revival of this thread interesting. I’m still not thrilled with where BMW has been going. I recently has the new 3 as a loaner and didn’t find it compelling. I wonder if BMW will follow MB and Audi and introduce some wagon variant here soon. Happily putting miles on my 16 F07. ✌️

I doubt it as far as the wagon goes. The SUV killed the wagon market in the US, and I don't see that reversing.
