The N20 really does not sound good. You're going to spend hundreds only to make the diesel ticking sound louder and rev like a 95 base honda without vtec. Also zero power gain, stock air box is already maximized for air flow. So I wouldn't recommend a CAI at all. The best and most cost efficient way is to just replace the air filter with a K&N drop in. If you want sound, do exhaust, but most N20 catback I've heard still sounds rice.

From what I read, N26 will sound worse because its sole purpose of existing is for emission, but N20 and N26 sounds not much different, both awful. But it is your car, you can do what you want to it, who knows, maybe you'll like it.

You're not wrong. That engine the only thing that makes any sense is an upgraded filter. Beyond that throwing money at bullshit for worse performance.

It's just that an intake is not necessary at all you'll spend alot of money just to get that little swoosh satisfaction which I've heard them in real time and doesn't do justice at all.Better off getting an exhaust system mated to a DP to get a good sound.

Yes, install a N55 intake on an N26 motor, somebody just threw random shit at the wall and hoped it sticks.
I think the OP has left the building, we disappointed him with the CAI reject advices.

It looks like the intake is using air coming through the grille/radiator opening (warm/hot) and metal is a heat sink absorbing heat from engine? Just seeking to understand. The stock intakes take in air ahead of the radiator in the cavity behind the kidney grilles if memory serves?

The whole point of ducting air into an intake is to take advantage of the cooler outside air - how does using air that has passed through the radiator help? That makes no sense, might as well just cut a big 'ol hole in the lid of the stock intake.

This diagram is for N55, but the same air entry piece "#14" applies to N20/N26, this is why the stock air box is a cold air intake.:
