iOS 11 experiences

I am particularly interested to hear if there are any new compatibility problems/improvements between iOS 11 and BMW's iDrive. MrChumley has so far reported that the beta version of iOS 11 solved a problem that existed in iOS 10 for him.

OK I should probably be honest here and admit that I'm waiting for enough others to have tried iOS 11 and reported back before I do it myself!

Also interested in whether it has any effect on battery life of the phone. My 6S is already not great.

Did you check if your battery is due a FOC swap by Apple?

Oh & I'm one for giving it a good few days before jumping onto any new IOS / updates.

I only checked too late to discover that I was eligible for a free battery replacement. My phone would sometimes shut down if it got to 25% charge so I should have looked this up before.

In February this year, my 15 month old 6S stopped working after a minor iOS update - it could no longer get a mobile signal. Apple replaced it with a new one even though it was out of warranty. The new one has the right battery although the life seems pretty short.

I have been using the beta version and now have the full release ios11. I have not seen any issues with it connecting to the car with Bluetooth and cable it all works as it did before.
My battery is no worse than before although I already had an issue with random drain which I think is linked to Facebook or Instagram app with background drain

Been on iOS11 for a while - no problems here with BMW.

Search seems a bit odd - trying to find apps using search doesn't always work. Battery still sucks on 6S.

I have had it since first beta and only thing i have tried to use that doesn't work anymore if the GOOD Enterprise app.

As you say, mine seems OK, but if there's anything specific you want me to check just shout.

Regarding battery life, have you tried power cycles (ie leave a video running until the phone dies, charge it fully and repeat a couple of times)? Most li ion batteries benefit from that. Also avoid using an iPad charger - their faster but they don't seem to do the iPhone battery any favours.

My 6 has been off charge since around 8 this morning and it's still got 86%. Then again I've been painting the garden fence all day so I haven't used it much.

I just signed up to be a beta tester mainly because we had an issue with tiny font in emails so it was a way to raise with Apple development team. Thankfully the issue is resolved in ios11

Ah right, wasn't aware you could do that.

BTW I always test the betas on my other devices before I put them on my main phone just in case they're buggy.

Trying resetting the device this sometimes fixes battery drain issues. So far I like Safari 11, it is available on Mac OS as well, love the stopping of auto play videos on websites.

I've had the beta as well and I find that the songs occasionally skip from what I select on the phone, to whatever iDrive feels like playing at the time. Hopefully once the final release comes out this issue goes away.

Aside from this, iOS 11 seems to run as well as iOS 10 from an iDrive standpoint.

I haven't upgraded yet. I'll wait till 11.1 comes out or maybe 11.2. They usually cock it up on a major release and a bug fixed version comes out a week later once the mass public have been let loose on it.

Yep, iOS 11 status is now "release version". It's actually the same build as the beta I've been using for the last few days, so I didn't get an update notification.

Is it that noticeably different? I did read a bit about the upgrade and does seem quite a few changes.

My phone is on 11.0 (15A372) which i believe to be the GM, I have deleted the beta profiles and restarted, should the phone now pick up the public release?

The reason i'm doing this is because the Watch is not showing the availability of the iOS4 watch software. Which i'd like to update. The watch has also had the beta profiles removed.

Any ideas?
