Booked Intercity Lines. I will relay my experience with them after I receive the vehicle. Thanks for all the feedback!

Awesome glad to hear you went with Intercity...don't think you'll be disappointed! Look forward to hearing how it went with your M4.

Intercity were great and thank you for the recommendation. The were super professional and careful with the vehicle. Treating it as if it was their own. They also were in constant communication and super accommodating. For any higher end cars I wouldn't use anyone else.

They were fantastic with great service and communication. Not to mention they ship many exotics, My M3 was in the same closed trailer as a rolls royce.

Bit of advice, spend the extra cash and go with a closed container, which is what I did. Avoid any chips in your paint.
Just went with Angels Moving Autos as well for my F80. Car is being picked up next week and I will report back with how things went. So far, Deena at the main office was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

Shipping car across the country

I'm looking into a z4m in florida and was hoping someone had recommendations on a company to ship the car to California.

Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost me?

There are a bunch of companies that do this. One thing to be careful of is that some may say they ship enclosed but they purely broker it out whoever is cheapest and then the final leg may be enclosed. Not sure if they have a route from FL to CA but my first stop would be Intercity Lines. They do a great job and don't farm it out, they transport the cars themselves. Here is the contact info.

If they don't travel that route they will know someone else good that does.

From WA to TX in an enclosed truck, it cost me around $1500.

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of logistics companies that ship vehicles. Pretty much all of them contract out jobs to truckers.
The best advice I have for you is to look for the best online reviews. Multiple sources for each company you are considering. And don't automatically go for the cheapest price as they are skimping somewhere whether it be service, quality, or insurance.

And having done both enclosed and open, I will do open from now on. There really isn't much risk of rocks hitting the car. However if price is no option and you want to ensure you vehicle is always garage kept stick with enclosed. The enclosed truck I used, also had better clearance for very low cars.
It took about 30 min using blocks to get my slammed Nissan onto the ramps of the open truck
Z4 clearance should be fine for either

Dealer got a car (not my BMW) shipped to me for $1000 from Phoenix to Cincinnati. Was on an open truck but sitting 10 feet in the air and somewhat behind the truck cab it didn't have any damage. Far more likely when I am driving down the highway. I see the biggest chance for damage on being when they load and unload it, and my car was in a place it supposedly only had to come off once. They were also super careful on filling out paperwork on both ends noting anything not perfect which I appreciated.

If it is a logistics company you deal with, how well it is cared for depends on who they contract with. I would pay more if I could deal directly with the trucking company.

I've shipped my daughter's truck between L.A. and Virginia 3 times so far. Around $1,200 each time, uncovered. There has never been any damage to paint or elsewhere. I haven't liked the shipping companies because of delays, so I will watch this thread carefully for recommendations.

R&J elite transport is based out of Georgia and transported my viper across the country for me.

Excellent service. Highly recommended.

I've heard very good things from Intercity Lines. They only do enclosed transports so it's not the cheapest.

Intercity has been advertising in Cavallino Magazine for probably over 20-years.

The lower end car carriers can tell you a time frame and be weeks off w/excuse truck broke down - a scenario I've heard told to me by friends twice.

It has been many years since I tried this, but would recc that you use enclosed trailers, unless it is really a 'driver-quality' paint job. Lots of flying crap on the roadways. Don't cover an open car w/ a tarp, or the wind will 'sand' wherever it flaps and moves (look at how the dealerships protect for transport - stuck-on sheets and foam). Would also suggest not using anybody who goes with 'contractors' or farms out the work as a 'broker' - almost zero accountability (sure you might get some insurance money to pay for the repairs, if you are lucky....). Hemmings should still have a ton of reputable advertisers for this - used to have many full page spreads, ranging from reasonable to 'valet and champagne'. A few years ago, a friend did this but shipped his DD (full of fragile stuff he didn't want movers to touch) and drove the fun car on the cross-country - didn't have to sweat it that he used a cheapo brokerage, and got to see the Rockies the way they were meant to be seen.
