F32 Door Ambient Lighting

Has anyone fitted the rubber/silicon version of the strips to doors to enhance the dimly lit OEM lighting?

There are sets on Ebay, but instead of hard plastic there is a company doing flexible silicon version.

Currently awaiting delivery on these!

The silicone option sounded a better solution than the rigid plastic ones

I'd be interested in a before and after shot if you get chance. The YouTube video of them looks pretty good.

I'm not convinced with these yet....

The mastermodsuk youtube video suggested these can't be seen at "kneeling" level, which might be right but they can see them from seating level, which is going to annoy my OCD.

Unless I've fitted them wrong - which is a possibility!

The section at the curved end of the door trim was harder to fit (far left of the pic) and needs some work.

I will wait until it goes dark before I fully make an opinion

I've fitted the rigid versions from AmbientModz and they were very easy to install, they do make a decent difference to the intensity of the ambient lights.

Are they as visible as the rubber ones seem to be?

They're not really that visible at all tbh, they push up flush with the underside of the door trim. I'd attach a picture if I could.........but I can't

I've now fitted these and too be honest although I can see a difference, they look nothing like the intensity of what the ebay pics or video shows.

I'm wondering if my 2013 F32 has different led to what a slightly newer version has, I'll post pics later.

Ha, ha, wow. I had absolutely no idea there were even lights under there
I usually have my dash dimmed right down for night driving so that's probably why I've never noticed a light source there :

Iíve literally just been looking into why my ambient lighting on the doors didnít seem to be working, like you I have the dash dimmed to the lowest possible & I didnít realise that by doing so it meant the ambient lights on the doors were basically off.

Is there a way to have the dash lighting dimmed to the lowest but still have the ambient lighting on the doors turned up??

There is an option in Bimmercode to decouple the dashboard and ambience lighting. The ambience brightness is then set under my vehicle/interior lighting option in iDrive.

Not used Carly for since I had an e93 years ago.

They're not lights, its a plastic trim that slots into the door card where the oem lighting is. It 'transfers' the lighting effect supposedly.

Right, I just looked it up and that product AmbientModz are selling has really annoyed me. Extruded plastic like that cost pence and he's knocking it out for FIFTY QUID. A tenner, fifteen even but £50, that is taking the piss.

I'm having a play around with some stuff we have lying around at work. I'll let you know if I have any success.

I was totally unaware of this lighting until yesterday, to think I was jealous on my wife's X1 interior lights! haha.

Okay, here is test one with a short piece of the stuff I had lying around at work...

Pretty pleased with the initial trial.

Looks good. Any clear piece of plastic should do the trick like you say, no need to spend £50
