On a 4 year pcp 15k miles a year GFV came in at 15500 I would of thought it would be worth more than that or that sound about right? On a 335d saloon

Sounds about right with the mileage, my car is a 330d at the same GFV but at 8000 miles.

I got a GFV of £13800 on 4 years at 10K. I suspect they have badly underestimated it

Not really - my agreement is 9p per mile excess and at 40000 that's £3600. Without comparing spec that's broadly similar

I got some posts on this in a similar thread and the 35d is not that much more on residual than 35i it appears.

Mine is just under 13k after 4 years, 18k per year

Also, gfmv only really effects your financing in that you aren't repaying capital on that sum, your car will still be worth what it is worth at the end - even if others have a slightly gfmv than you. If yours is lower which is in the interest of the dealer to make it, you will have more equity at the end on trade in.

If you plan on just handing back the keys at the end of course, it matters a bit more but this is usually only sensible if the arse falls out the market or your circumstances change such that you can't afford to buy again or pay off balance

I agree and don't really see much point in it as a guarantee for me as I would rather overestimate the mileage to ensure I retain my deposit (ideally).

I also try to put in sufficient deposit such that should I actually need to walk away then we're never in negative equity as such. No less painful, but somehow more reassuring.

The Z4 was financed independently, and is HP with a balloon... so like a PCP without the MGFV. I do my research myself as to what I think the cars will be worth in 3 or 4 years or whatever.

Valuing cars newer than 2 years old is very hard, but as they get a bit older then it becomes a lot easier.
