Millway Camber Plates
Just got these delivered today. I ordered directly from Millway's website since I couldn't find any distributors in the USA and they were pretty cheap to begin with (currency conversion comes to less less than $380USD shipped from Sweden). They took exactly 2 weeks to get here. (ordered on 4/5).
http://www.millway.se/camber-plates-...0-f31-f32.html I chose these because they are quite a bit cheaper than the other options from US companies. Millway sells replacement bearings in case they inevitably begin making rattling noises, but I've also seen some good reviews that mentioned they were completely silent. They are also the preferred camber plate for Ohlins so that was about all the motivation I needed to pull the trigger. Everything was received in good shape and packaged well. I also ordered a millway sticker because it was like the equivalent of 10 cents, but they threw in about 10 extra no complaints. http://www.millway.se/decal-millway-motorsport.html They are pretty substantial in size and seem good quality. The only thing I don't like is that they use screws for mounting instead of nuts and studs. It'll be harder to line up this way but not impossible. Install pics and initial impressions coming soon. |

Looking forward to your experience and if NVH increases (and what it's like).

Install went pretty smoothly. I forgot that our cars have alignment pins, and Millway includes those 2 set screws that act as locators when lifting the plates into position. So no issue with getting screws threaded.
The only real task is to swap the swivel bearing over from the bottom of your OEM bushings. See pic for reference. On their video, they easily pull it off the OEM part but I had to pry it off with a screw driver. You also have to determine with top nut works for yours. On my KW V1s, I needed the 12x1.25 Currently have it set to 0.5*ish over the factory setup, so I'm around 1.9* of camber. I did a DIY alignment in the garage and everything drives straight. We'll see how it holds up after I get some milage on the setup. Hardware: Before: After: Quote:
No rattling or metallic noises, but I only have all of 10 miles on the plates. We'll see how it's doing after a few months. They also sell replacement bearings, so it's nice to know I could swap them out if (When) it begins making noise in the future. The real question is how often that'll be. If it's every few years, I can deal with that.

I just think it's crazy that all of our camber plate options seem to be $550+. They should be way cheaper considering how wide the use is. These fit all F2x and F3x models. But I guess they just don't sell that many.

I think the main reason is the quality of the ball bearing. I can feel the difference when I switch from universal bags to airlift bags. Their camber plates have different design and much better build quality. Anyway, great job on finding that plates, i was looking for one forever before I decided to go with airlift.

F87 have same more robust bearing arrangement as m3/m4 to suit larger damper rod of monotube front struts.

Super interested in these to see how they fair after some daily driving. I saw one guy on the m2 forums that had his on for about 2 years and they seemed to be okay with them.
Do you put a lot of miles on your car? Mine is a daily but I really only drive 2-3 times a week on average. My car mostly sees road trips and I'm planning to start tracking the car this year. Hopefully with my use case, these should fit right in!

The bearing life all depends on your driving habits. More miles, more potholes, etc. will mean less life. I'm confident in these though, because others that I've had in the past have made metallic noises almost immediately. i was pleasantly surprised to have no noise on the Millway plates. That tells me right away that they're built properly. And like I said, I have no problem if I have to replace the bearing every few years to keep it noise free. $60 is a no brainer. http://www.millway.se/ge17-mte.html |

Still silent, but keep in mind I've only put on maybe 2k miles. I'm still keeping an eye on them for a true "long term" review.

Thanks, I just put in an order for some myself. I drive a fair amount each month so I'll post about how they hold up to my use. Forgot to order an extra set of bearings but they're fairly inexpensive and will be easy to get later I'd imagine.

Just received mine today, should be installed Saturday morning as long as the Eibach springs come in. The saga continues as my friend says...

I installed these today with my b14s and there's def more NVH over stock. The car feels way more nimble though with the solid mounts. Even the strut rotated more easily in the mounts. Very happy with them so far. I installed an RSB today as well and it was dark when I finished so no test drive or alignment yet. Will update again after some miles and after my monoball comes so I can get an alignment/corner balance.

Camber plates and the Eibach front springs are in. I did a quick drive to a parking lot to perform some full lock circles to makes sure the 245/45 tires don't rub. They do make some noise, we will see how they are to daily.

Mine def make some noise but I think its dude to me not adjusting my endlinks after adjusting my ride height. Going to get them properly adjusted today and see how things shake out. The mounts are def louder than stock but I think are just on the edge of what I'll be able to daily. Time will tell for how long/well they hold up to SF potholes and roads though.

Quiet(er) Millway Camber Plates w/Polyurethane Bushings
I just installed Millway's prototype (hence gold-colored) poly-bushing camber plates on my F31 xdrive. I was in the process of ordering the standard Millway camber plates when I asked the Millway CEO, Mr. Lindkvist, about lead time - during that conversation, he let me know that he was actually developing/testing a prototype for our chassis.
When I asked Mr. Lindkvist about the revisions, he responded, "The poly-bushings is engineered to reduce noise compare to a uniball, but still make the damper more responsive than the OEM rubber mount. The lifetime of the bushings we expect to last long time. However it has not been more than 6month since we mounted the first prototype. Replacements will be available to a fraction of the cost of a uniball bearing." I placed my order and received them from Sweden via UPS within a week and installed them this past weekend, along with H&R sport springs and new bump stops. Just as above, I swapped over my factory bearings and used the supplied hardware for the install. A quick drive yielded very faint chatter at speeds below 10mph. Above that speed, all I could hear was standard tire noise/NVH. No chatter, but more to follow after an alignment and more miles. First photo is Mr. Lindkvist's; the rest are mine. |
