Garage List
I've been meaning to make up a mod list of everything I've put into my 328i mostly just to see it all together on a list and also to see how much I've spent on the car. I figured I'd share and also if anyone else wants to post there's, I'd love to hear and see!

Background of the car:
Bought with 50k miles from dealer, mineral silver base model.

Mod list currently installed w/ prices:
-VRSF Intercooler- $342
-Bootmod3 stg. 1- $572
-Evolution racewerks Charge pipe- $280
-Injen Intake- $280
-After market projector headlights- $470
-Exhaust cut out (w/ weld job)- $280
-Gloss Black M-Style kidney grill- $50
Total: $2,274

Mod list bought, but not yet installed
-BBS CH 18"- $1000
-GFB DV+- $120
-VRSF Catless downpipe w/ ceramic thermal coating- $298
Total: $1,418

Grand total: $3,692

There are a few small things like vinyl wrapped parts and black side reflectors that I didn't include. I mainly focused on the larger things since it would get tedious doing every little thing. Crazy to see everything together and how much I've spent and then realizing there's so much more I want to do

Hopefully everyone finds this entertaining or interesting in someway! Hopefully I'll get some responses with awesome mod lists! Also I included prices but no one else has to if they do not want to.

Another thing, a few of the parts I bought I got for less than what you see them usually marked for from site to site because I will usually try to wait around for a holiday, site sale, etc. to find better prices. Really helps save $$$!

And finally, everything I installed myself except the exhaust cutout needed to be welded. I'd imagine I saved a boat load of money spending hours doing everything myself.

Hope everyone enjoys and as always, happy modding!

Nice list This is everything I used to have, currently have, and am thinking about, except the springs are a sure thing, they're going on this week. I've had this list on my laptop ever since I started buying stuff for the car to keep it all tracked with mileage and stuff. Didn't include price, too lazy to do that right now. I've tallied it up before though, and including tires which can more or less be considered a maintenance item, it's around $4,200. When I say it as a total, it kind of makes me wish I waited and saved until I could afford an F80 and spend the money on that. Live and learn I guess lol.

rjdnyy224 great list! After I install the VRSF dp I plan to go stage 2 BM3 AGG as well. I also need to get better at recording at what mileage I installed parts. Hats off to you for keeping track of everything!

I haven't done much aesthetic modifications as I'm going for a sort of "sleeper" car. Fairly stock on the outside with the exception of the BBS's and a little bit of lowering (future), but faster than your typical 328i. Eventually I'd also like to go with an MHI big turbo and further down the road build the engine with CP pistons, Carrillo rods, upgraded rod bearings, etc. Then I'll really be throwin down power and be a real sleeper!

Also it's crazy you're on stage 2 BM3 with a stock charge pipe! Just saw another forum with a guy who had his blown to hell and he wasn't even in to modifying. He was even asking what it was. Evolution Racewerks makes a great one. Kies Motorsports will often times have sale on their website which includes ER parts. Typically 10% or so which is decent. Installation is a PITA but worth it for the peace of mind.

A lot of bang for the buck! Curious as to what kind of dyno figures you're getting on the N20 with those mods? are you running E85 and if so has it been giving you any issues?

Thanks! I also thought that! I have not been able to find a dyno to get on in my area, but I recent have found a place called Bimmer Clinic in central Jersey that I plan on going to just for that. I wager I'm making around 300hp and 320trq based off of BMW sports display and from OBD2 readings. That's on 93 oct. unfortunately the closest station with e85 is about 30 minutes away and just isn't convenient enough for me to run an e85 tune I'd love to if a pump around me has it!

I also kind of kept it subtle with my cosmetics, I think that's the way to go. Beside the debadge, spoiler/lip, wheels and grille, I'm still rocking base model bumpers and side skirt and I plan to keep it that way. I know my car isn't that fast, but it's enough to surprise a 335, STi, older M's or any other modern performance car that's not an M/RS/AMG for the most part. I don't know if I'd call it a sleeper though, I feel like you have to be fast enough to beat on anything to be a real sleeper lol.

And yes, still running the stock CP's. They're not as big of an issue on the N20 as they are on the N55 for some reason, but that'll probably be the next thing I do. Would definitely go with ER when the time comes.

Hey I'm going to bimmerclinic this week to get my springs installed! Good place with an AWD dyno, that's where I'd go if I were to dyno the car. If you go there for a dyno let me know before we can meet up if you're interested, it's only about 50 minutes from me.

bimmer456 not too many stage 2 N20 dyno's, but I'd agree that ~300whp ~320wtq is a good estimate for a catless car (stage 2) but I think BM3 stage 1 would be closer to 275-280whp.

Thanks for sharing mod lists. Nice to see charge pipe replaced with a very capable aftermarket alternative.

Yeah that's what I'm going for, subtle look but fast enough to surprise some cars like you mentioned. And yeah I wouldn't consider it a true sleeper, that's why I said "sleeper" haha. For lack of a better term that's what I used but I know it isn't really one that can smoke most cars I come across. Come forged internals, big turbo, etc. I'll be able to say that. But I think you know what I'm getting at even though it isn't an actual sleeper.

But I had heard people say they aren't as big of an issue and then others disagreed because they are still plastic. Good plan with ER though. Tbh I'm not too sure of many other manufactures that make charge pipes for our cars.

Yup I know what you mean and agree Big turbo and building the motors is when true sleeper status comes, especially if you retain the 328i badge. But in stage 2 guise it's definitely a little bit of a sleeper lol.

And yah, they are plastic and I'd assume the same type used in the N55, but for some reason it seems the N20 CP's are more durable judging based on the amount of failures you see on here, but I guess time will tell.

I will definitely let you know! For now I'm not sure when I'd get there, maybe towards the end of winter but I'll definitely let you know before hand to meet up. I don't really meet a lot of 3 series guys with modified cars at my local meets and what not.

But that's what I thought too, next time I get the chance I will take pictures/ screen shots of the sports display and maybe even do datalogs with 3rd gear street pulls to show whp/wtrq. I'm almost positive I saw 300 for hp but could be mistaking it for trq. So 280whp and 300wtrq. I will check and get back to you!

For sure! Not sure if I'll be around as I go to school in PA, but lmk anyway and we'll see

Yah I believe BM3 has a HP/TRQ estimation feature in the datalog settings, though I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Update: 3/23/19

Figured I'd update my build list since it has changed a bit. Along with everything listed originally, I have added/ installed:

-Yellow interior trim wrap on black leather
-VRSF catless down pipe
-Bootmod3 stg. 2
-Hawk 5.0 brake pads (F&R)
-Stoptech stainless steel brake lines

Today, I installed the down pipe and flashed BM3 stg. 2. Absolutely love it. Exhaust sounds amazing and burbles are fantastic. With the ability to open and close my exhaust cutout, I can choose between loud and crackly or civil but still has a good exhaust note.

I had been running BM3 stg. 1 with burbles and have heard people say that burbles with a stock cat could clog the holes in the catalytic converter and even reduce performance. After inspecting the stock downpipe when removing it, no holes had been clogged and the cat had looked as if it was on the car for an untuned 75k miles. However, I still think that it is possible for the catalytic converter to be clogged if left for a long period of time. I'd estimate I have had the stg. 1 tune with a stock cat with burble on for about 5k-7k miles with no issues. Tune at your own risk of course.

With the brake pads & lines, I have not installed them yet as I haven't gotten the chance and with changing brake lines, you need to bleed the brakes. So it's a process that I will need to do another time.

Hope everyone enjoys my list/update and let me know what you think and let me hear what you've done recently to your f30's!

Looks like you've made some good progress

Do you have any pictures of the switch and exhaust dump? It's something I've been considering having done myself, haven't yet seen anyone else do it!

I have!

Atm I do not have pictures but tomorrow I will take some for the exhaust dump/ remote. It's a wireless set up so it's basically an "on/off" key chain switch that is linked to a receiver I located in the rear fuse panel.

I'd highly consider it since a valved exhaust system is extremely expensive and tbh. A muffler delete does not sound bad vs an axle back exhaust system.

Sweet, thank you.

I've already got an MPE + Catless DP, but there are times I wish it were a bit louder, just for fun. I wonder how much of a difference the dump would make vs. my MPE... Either way, TIA for the pics.

I also just got a catless down pipe today actually and there is a significant difference in a good way. I think it sounds great

Awesome, thank you

Looks like about what I'd expect, just wanted something to reference for when/if I inquire with a shop to have this done
