Question 330e Brake disc/pad change

Hi bimmers, I'm an absolute newbie when it comes to servicing myself... Which I'm trying to fix!

Are there any caveats when dismounting the brakes, whether front or rear, on a PHEV like the 330e? Should it be safe to follow any guides meant for i/d versions (320i for example)? I know this car has regenerative braking and I'm not sure whether that'll be a problem or not if I decide to change pads/discs on my driveway.

(I've searched for other threads and found a very handy guide, but doesn't mention 330e )

Cheers!

Looking at the repair manual there doesn't appear to be anything different about them. Regenerative braking is done by the electric motor.

Thanks Billfitz!

Where can I find those manuals?

Also, since I'm here... I'm planning to replace the rear brake discs which have a lip now. The front ones were replaced a while back but they're still in a decent state. I've got the idea to move the front ones to the back, and have the new ones on the front. Is this even possible? I see Front/Rear kits available so I'm inclined to think they're somehow different, worth checking.

The front/rear rotors aren't the same size, nor the same configuration. The lip that forms on the rotor edge doesn't bother anything, although I sand mine flush when I have the wheels off for yearly maintenance. I bought a Bentley manual when I bought my car. They only go through 2015, although very little changed with the LCI other than the engines.

I did do some more research and concluded that, as you say, they have different specs. In my case rears go by 300x20 and fronts 312x24.

The rear also goes over the parking brake shoes.
