Just had the MPPSK installed Friday on my 2019 440 Xdrive. Everything my car is normal and nothing like what you are experiencing. Good luck with your Dealer.

Hi Bimmers!

Update: After 1 month with the car in the official dealership trying to troubleshoot this weird behavior they just called me and said that experts from BMW in HQ have suggested to replace the ECU.

We haven't arrived here in a straight line but I will keep you from the details.

Wish me luck.

Best,

Víctor

Resolved! (or so it seems)

Hi Bimmers,

Final update to let you know the latest and hopefully final status.

Yesterday I picked up my car from the BMW official service after 1,5 months!! So far... it seems to be repaired.

The failure completely puzzled the mechanics as it didn't log any error codes. They have spent all this time troubleshooting what was going on. The failure was so unusual it had to be escalated to headquarters. Engineers had to diagnose the car in remote.

In the end, they realized that they were detecting many communication errors in one of the buses leading to the ECU so they decided to replace the ECU (under warranty).

It seems plausible that the error may have been there before I installed the MPPSK but it was the ECU reprogramming what surfaced the malfunctioning.

(At least this is what I understand from what they have said to me).

So far both symptoms described in this thread have disappeared. No more weird engine sounds when unlocking the car, and no more having to press start twice to power on the engine. Let's cross fingers.

After having been driving a X2 (2.0T engine) for all this time... Oh boy... I cannot describe the sensation of driving mine.

I am writing this (hopefully) final post to wrap up the thread, to express my gratitude to all of you who stepped in to provide support when this all started, but also to register the result in case anyone else experiences the same issue in the future.

Thanks and appreciation bimmers

Víctor

Congrad can you post a scan copy of the shop report so if anyone has this problem they can reference the parts and repair.

Glad this was sorted out; you really need to push and wait for dealers to get things done right sometimes - now go enjoy the car!
