Unhappy Cracked Headlight

Hi all, new here today so apologies if this is in the wrong place..

I managed to crack the plastic on my headlight slightly in the corner. Pain in the neck, the thing keeps getting all misty in the rain etc.

Am I able to get a new plastic cover for it or do I need to buy a full new headlight? Reading various things online. Hoping it’s not a costly one

Thanks

As far as I know you’ll need to get a new headlight. The clear plastic is bonded on.

I have seen videos of people separating the cover by baking in an oven but I personally wouldn’t want to even give that a try.

You'll need a whole new headlight. I had mine replaced under warranty when small stress fractures were noticed. They had to remove the whole front bumper, and after having the bumper put back, they didn't align it properly, so had to take it back in again...uugh.

The baking in the oven works you'll just have to Reglue it extremely well.

Sti headlights were often modded this way as people hated the clear reflectors would bake them open. Spray paint their reflectors black and then glue them closed again.

Yet this comes with risk because if you don't glue it back correctly it will allow water in still

You might get by with a piece of XPEL or Lamin-x film over the crack, depending on location & severity.
