I'm doing a "Stage 1" E85 tune with F80Paul. Stock everything, just tune and hpfp. That was my goal with the car from the get go. I don't want to do a huge build that requires a bunch of supporting mods. I just don't like feeling like I'm leaving efficiency on the table.

E30 was a nice bump compared to 93, so I expect the E85 bump to be substantial. I'm about $1k in for the upgrade (BF Custom tune pricing + used pump + install myself) and then got a 550i clutch on standby. IMO, not bad for a setup that *should* be capable of 500whp.

Honestly we're spoiled. Think about previous engines that needed intercoolers, charge pipes, lpfp, etc. just to hit mid 400s.

Yes you are spoiled I am stuck here with 87-88 octane the maximum I could do is MPPSK and a downpipe

yes, e85 with very high ignition timing and maxxed out stock turbo at ~1.4bar should give ~500hp imho. these engines love timing so much, so e85 should be great.

Thats also what we have seen during testing.

B58 needs timing to get nice power and with 11.0:1 compression this means you need high octane fuel.

On bad fuel no matter how much you turn up the boost, power will stay same or even get worse if timing gets very low.

Just a heads up, our first 4 Supra pump orders shipped out today. The rest are coming soon. The pump is on national backorder, unfortunately.

Hey IK6SPEED your pms are full so I can't respond. But feel free to put me on blast and call out my mistake instead of constantly private messaging me the same bullshit.

He is very adamant that we be explicit in whether we are talking about pumps from a Supra or other B58 model. Not sure why he feels like constantly messaging me since I never said I bought a pump from a Supra, but here's your opportunity to call me out on my bluff.

I feel like the first post on this (very smart to create) thread very clearly defines the options and describes in detail what we've all been referring to as the "Supra pump" - from the B58TU engine.

Idk, it's up to him. He keeps messaging me to differentiate on what vehicle my pump came from.

For everyone that's dying to know, it's from an X2.

if the supra pump is the same it can be has for 775 when it comes back in stock, now thats a bargain for a hpfp upgrade.

Updated Thread

It looks like the M340i/Z4 do not use the same updated pump as the Supra, I made a edit under the HDP6 Pump section.

Quote:
Here is a list of all the G and X models that use the HDP6 pump. You can see it's been available since 2017 which is why they are plentiful from Dealers and Vendors.

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...;q=13518631642

The Supra Pump, Toyota Part 23021WAA01 is a newer, stronger design that is in short supply as it's so new.

The actual Supra pump is $100 less MSRP than the older BMW pump, but in very short supply in USA.

If one wants the best, most powerful B58 pump made by Bosch for the B58 engine, it's the Supra pump, not any of the BMW variants.

Curious to see how the 550i clutch holds up.

I reached out to Spec (great customer service) and their clutches for our cars all mat up to the stock DMFW. I think that quells most of my concerns about going aftermarket and being forced into a SMFW with drivetrain chatter. I think I'll be heading the Stage 2+ route as the clutch slips are getting more common.

Update On Dorch Engineering Stage 1

Just got done installing the DE Stage 1 HPFP, so far i'm on my first revision of my E50 tune and the results are looking promising. Where I used to get a hard dip in rail pressure (3000-4000RPM) I am now going over the rail target.

Thanks, you've been busy, initial results are looking good.

Couple of questions:

1. Why is your rail target 2600 PSI vs stock at 2900 PSI?

2. Are you going to shoot for higher boost as well as higher E content? Current boost levels look similar to MHD Stage 2 95_102 OTS I'm hitting about 19 - 20PSI at 5500 - 6000 RPM with a Load Target of 180 and similar WGDC of 92%. Your Load Target is 200 but Load Actual drops off from about 6000 RPM and the gap between target and actual increases. Is this because the stock turbo is out of it's efficiency range?

I have been very busy indeed. Waiting on the Pure 800 to come in then things will start getting interesting

It'll be changed back to 2900psi, it's something my tuner did back when I was running E30 on stock HPFP. We noticed when we dropped the rail pressure down a bit it actually didn't dip as hard. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but it solved some misfire issues.

Yes, I am planning on shooting for hire boost. I'd like to run 20psi across the RPM range now that I have the fueling to support it. The boost is only where it is now because this is a base map, which is really just a edited map of my old E30/Meth tune I was running previously. As for the rest of your question i'm not really sure how to answer that, it'd be more of a question for my tuner. But I think a lot of the things you have mentioned will be fixed with revisions, as I said, we're currently on the base map.

We can figure this out very quickly. All of the pumps have a Bosch part number on them as well. Whenever someone gets their "Supra" pump, we just need pictures of the part numbers. The Bosch part number for TU pump 13518631642 is 0261520521.

Will do. Yeah, I have the same concerns. I miss the zippiness of smfw but not interested in going that route (yet) in my car. Also the price of $300 with lifetime warranty from FCP Euro was hard to beat. A lot of the stronger clutches require a lot more revs to get going and bite is a lot more aggressive, so it can be harder to manage in traffic. The 550i clutch should give a nice OEM-like feel, just holds more power.

If anyone wants to purchase my VTT Supra pump - it'll be here today or Monday.

I went Dorch Stage 2, because why the heck not. More expensive, but I'm only doing this once. I think it's a great product depending on what power level you are going for.

I'm still using the VTT GC Turbo (that will arrive in Feb-March). I am keeping my Meth.

I'm super pumped to be a part of this with everyone who has been in the mix on these B58 mods (Solid, SC_B58x, Kern etc...)...I feel like we need a national meet-up hahaha
