We got our Stock 340i on the dyno for some baseline testing as well as some mods.

Our car is a 2016 340i AT with 600 Miles, using 91 Octane Cali Gas

First we wanted to get some baseline results with car fully stock as is:

Our results couldn't be any more spot on with factory. Since we had the BMS intake in the trunk, we decided to strap that on while the car was cooling down for a bit. The numbers are promising with this simple mod! Take a look:

After those results, we were definitely very impressed so far. We took it off the dyno, let it cool down while we had some lunch before we added the DP. We got the car back on the dyno the same day, same gas tank everything. Astonished at the results and improvement of the graph across the board:

We definitely wanted to see what this car can do after those results. I had the BMS Jb4 Beta in the trunk as well. I installed it, in ten minutes on the dyno while the car was cooling. This car has surpassed our expectations and we can't wait to move forward:

The car is such a blast to drive, I love it. The sounds from the intake and DP are intoxicating. You can hear the turbo spool and whistle while driving, I honestly really love this car. Here's a short clip before and after some mods on the dyno. We'll get some drive-by videos as well.

I am super impressed that fully stock on 91 the car puts down 314hp and 339 lb ft at the wheels. That is super impressive

everything i have seen from the 340 so far has been impressive
from how much power it makes in its stock form to how the responsive the engine is to mods

Yes, I double checked to make sure. The second half of the video is BMS Intake, VM downpipe, and JB4 Beta Map1. You can see the dyno graph after that pull it did 370whp 400wtq.

Hi Mike, thanks for the informative post.

A few questions: I see that the HP went up by 10 with the BMS intake, but the torque went down by 4. Am I to read into this that the torque didn't improve, just HP, and that the -4 is due to standard variations when performing standardized testing?

Do you think the HP/Torque will improve as the engine breaks in? If you dyno'd at 314hp/339tq with 600 miles on the odo, i'm curious what the readings would be with 1500 miles on the odo.

How easy is the DP to install and are there any warranty concerns if it is left in place when taking the vehicle in for service?

With the new power intake+dp+jb4, what are the 0-60 times looking like?

Thanks Mike!

I would not expect torque to improve with just an intake

As for the install and time question, i will have to wait until product is released to give you a more accurate answer

Well, the HP/torque curve is more important than the actual top number.

Both HP and torque have smoother curves with the intake, and I find that surprising, as usually just an intake doesn't do a whole lot.
Granted, the peak torque number came down a wee bit, especially at lower RPM, where the intake takes 2 hits/losses at 2 points. However, if you look at the curve, it's somewhat smoother below 5K, but above 5K the curve is smoother and there is MORE torque along that curve from 5k to red line. In daily driving I don't think one would feel much difference with the intake only, but at least it doesn't look like it hurts overall engine performance. And if it sounds better, than that's a bonus with an intake.

With the down-pipe, I would guess that the stock intake may be restrictive to the increased flow?
Have you run a dyno with the down-pipe and compared runs with the stock intake vs the BMW?
That would tell us how good or not the stock intake is in regards to supporting higher power mods.
