F30 BMW 330e ceramic coating question

Hi all,

I have managed to confuse myself which is not difficult....

My BMW 330e m sport 2016 year has had a ceramic coat completed at BMW as a good will gesture (went in for service and was returned with bird etching and filthy). I think they said its Nextgen ceramic coating they use.

I have tried to research but i can't find out what you use after washing it from now on as i know you don't use polish anymore?

I looked at Speed Guard Nano Coating Technology Spray on Amazon but it seems expensive just to be using after every wash?

I don’t have a ceramic coat on my car but my detailer was telling customers they can use hydrosilex recharge as a maintenance product if they can’t get back to the shop. He would rather you return to the store. I might get a ceramic coat if I ever buy a new car.

Ceramics are a joke imho.

Polishing is a step before a final coat. Final coat is usually some sort of sealant.

I've never heard of Nexgen, but it comes in a spray. Most other ceramic products also have a "booster" to use to bead/repel water, add gloss, and prolongs the life of the ceramic coating. You could use the Nexgen soap for your washes & follow up with their spray. https://buynexgen.com/collections/nexgen-product

If it was applied at a UK dealer, it’s unlikely to be a proper ceramic coating. They normally apply polymer based sealants (badly).

If on the off chance they did apply a ceramic coating, you don’t need to apply anything after you wash it. Every 3 to 6 months, you can go over it with a maintenance spray like Gtechniq c2v3 or Carpro Reload. This will enhance the water beading properties, but not much else is required. That’s kind of the point of ceramics.

I've been ceramic coating all of my cars myself for years. I like how easily they make the car to keep clean and the fact I only have to do a full, top-to-bottom every two years or so. Much better than sealants which only lasted six months in my climate.

As for the soap, the best thing you can do is find one that doesn't have any gloss agents or waxes/sealants added since those will mess with the coating. There are some like CarPro Reset which are specifically designed for coatings, but I've had good luck with normal soaps like Poorboys World Super Slick With Suds and Optimum Car Wash. I've got a jug of Meguiars Hyperwash queued up as I hear it is a great soap in general and works well on coatings too.

Cheers mate thanks for all the advice. I found out today its the Ngenco Protect X ceramic coating.

I will at purchasing the correct pre wash / soap as well and sounds like after washing
I can just dry it with the Meguiar's Supreme Microfibre Drying Towel Extra Large I purchased so makes life a bit easier.
