BMW F30 328i 2013 (US Spec) Headlight Range Adjustment retrofit
Hello everyone,
I have a 2013 BMW F30 328i (US spec) with halogen headlights, and Im currently in Europe, where a headlight range adjustment switch is required by regulation. I installed the European headlight switch, coded it, and successfully activated the rear fog light. However, Im facing an issue with getting the adjustment wheel on the light switch to control the headlight range. Details: Headlights: 63117338709 & 63117338710 (Halogen, E4 stamped Euro standard) Coding Attempted:
Despite this, the adjustment wheel is still not working. Im wondering if theres a fuse I should check or if additional coding is required. Has anyone successfully activated this feature? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. |

The wheel near the headlight switch? That is used to dim the dash lights. I do not know of any "range adjustment". By default, the headlights are typically aimed low (which give poor light output) to meet European standards. I just turned them up a bit with the alignment screws.

OP is talking about the second wheel, which is used for manual height adjustment of halogen-equipped vehicles in Europe.
Can't help with the electronics side of things, as I'm a luddite, but does a US-spec car come with the headlight adjusters installed on the lights in the first place, or is that a retrofit ![]() Maybe this will help... https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6#post30527416 Last edited by mmm-five; 02-13-2025 at 06:37 AM.. |

The car didn’t originally come with this switch, but I purchased and installed it. I also coded it to operate the rear fog light and updated the switch version to prevent errors. However, I couldn’t get it to work with the light range adjustment (LWR).
I have already 3073 C_CLC_ENA = F30disabled 3073 C_BLC_ENA = F30disabled and still not working |

Pretty sure the US spec halogen headlight housings themselves do not have the electric motors in them to electronically adjust them. Youd probably need the Euro headlight housings. You might have the switch in the cabin sorted but the car cant do anything with it cause the physical hardware in the lights isn't there. AFAIK we dont have manual powered leveling here. You gotta go under the hood and adjust the knobs yourself.

Mine has "auto-leveling" in the headlights using the front/rear level sensors as adjustment inputs. You can see the car adjust light height stopping at a light and as you drive off again. When the front level sensor arm broke off, I got some really nice "high beam flashes" from oncoming cars.
![]() I'd assume that the knob replaces the auto leveling? Or supplements it? |

the headlight has E4 stamp and this mean it's fit euro specs, so I think it must have the LWR motor,
the issue in coding that everything is disabled C_FLC_ENA disabled C_MLC_ENA disabled C_CLC_ENA = F30disabled C_BLC_ENA = F30disabled I only played with this LWR_ENABLED → Set to aktive (it was nicht aktive) LWR_AHL_TYPE → Set to manual (it was onhe) I think it's just need the correct coding same as the mod for rair fog |
