Get them to Start Early / Teen Son F30

Hi All - In our household and since I'm talking BMW stuff all day every day, my teen son got hooked as well. He wanted to have his first car as a BMW Being a new driver, I do not want him to get a powerful machine that he cannot handle So, we started looking at only 4 cylinders only The G20 330i is too expensive for someone who is just starting and not sure how he will manager it So what is the next choice We looked at the 228GC but the car has strange proportions that I did not get or like Upon few weeks of debating and searching we decided to go the CPO route. He liked the F30 so much and I did too. It is a nice design for sure As before, wanted to give him an entry car, I decided on the 320i. I wanted to get one with low miles. We kept hunting for one until we found a 2018 Mineral Grey with 15K miles on it and a CPO too We made a deal and it is finally in our driveway. Few pictures as a starter

That would be such a great first car! Although, aren't the 320's only a tune away from near 335i performance?

Will do my best to keep the car stock except may be appearances He already did a tint and a couple of other tiny mods ... no major modes absolutely zero

Nice car. We did a similar thing with my daughter last year. She was at the time 16 and we needed more drivers in the family to get the younger ones to where they need to be. As a bonus, my teen doesn't need a ride either and can get herself to school and sports practices, etc. We went with a 4 cylinder too. First time she hoped in my 340 with her license I knew we needed a 4 instead of a 6. In our case she wanted a small SUV so we got a used X1. It is a nice little car. Handy even for me when going to the hardware store. The engine is surprisingly strong. Enjoy the new car and hope your son has fun.

As I mentioned in my other post with the CPO X1 we bought, we did a tint, to protect the car from our Louisiana comfortably hot nuclear summers. No other mods for us. I just got all weather mats all around so that she can through her muddy soccer gear into the car and trunk without making too much of a mess. I actually liked the tint so much I got my 340 tinted.

Thank you, we kind of went through the same thinking process For me, my son loves the 3 series that he could not budge on anything else, so this very low mileage 320i worked well for him/us

Nice car. Our friends with a new driver in the family also selected 320i for the same reasons.

I saw the 15k miles, that is great. We found a cpo that just came off lease with 25k. They put new tires and brakes pads. So we are happy with our purchase too. Good luck it is fun to see them drive and to show more independence, but also a bit worrying.

Congrats! This is a great little first car - the best in my opinion. My fam did the exact same thing with me. I have a 2016 320i xDrive that we got CPO with 26k miles. This has the right amount of pep and unbeatable handling for a stock car.

Haha I wish! We are only able to get even with tuned 328i models when we tune our cars. I can get into the details more, but basically this means 240-270awhp depending on mods and fuel blend.

I was also dying for a muffler delete when I received my car but after learning that AWE makes an awesome exhaust for our cars, set it as a goal for myself to do well in school.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. I'm just super excited to see another mint 320i! Enjoy it for years to come!
