2013 328i Oil change
Might be getting a 328i in about a month I’ve heard two different things about the oil change one that I can just by the oil and filter from Walmart like with other cars and someone else told me I shouldn’t that I have to get the genuine oil and filter bmw recommends. Does it matter where the oil and filter are from?

I'd recommend sticking with the BMW specific oil 5W20. I pick it up with the filter kit at my local dealer for $115 US. I'd also recommend doubling up on the oil change intervals from 10k to 5k miles. Timing chain and guides are known issues with the N20 and dirty oil can aggravate the problem.

Try to get the OEM brand for oil (BMW part# 83215A2AF99) and filter (BMW part# 11427953125) if your budget allows for that. Alternatively, you could find Liqui Moly are pretty good. If you really want to for an inexpensive option, try the Kirkland Signature brand of engine oil from Costco & filter from this brand Mann part no. MAN-HU816ZKIT. |
