It's really overrated imo and can't be good for the transmission even if "the car is designed for it" so I don't use it ever. You need to drive around for a while (10 miles I think) and have the engine at operating temperature. Then Sport+, shifter to the left, foot on brake to the floor and stomp the gas. Little flag shows up on the dash and you're off! |

Hey Guys, not new to the coding scene but just learned about this little transmission upgrade you guys are talking about.
I'm taking delivery of a 2016 335i xdrive GT M-Sport with all the goodies. Is this model capable of being coded for an even faster tranny?? I appreciate the help, and I have a local coder that can follow directions VERY well. Thanks everyone. |

Its okay. Not the biggest difference in the world. This is coming from someone who had a car without it and coded it, and now has a car with it stock.

A question for transmission experts...
Do the faster shift times mean that there is less overlap when the two gears are engaged, thus reducing the amount of friction and heat in the process? Would this mean that a sport transmission actually runs cooler and has superior durability because of this mode of operation? |

Just tried the SAT and I'm very happy with the result. In comfort mode it doesn't hang the revs in partial throttle anymore and shifts are snappier but not uncomfortable. For those who haven't done this, try it out.
Btw huge thanks for all the information in this thread! |

Edit: Easy with just doing the FA (205->2TB) and VO coding. All the FDL's were already done from the VO/ECU coding. |

Does your Launch control work? I noticed a huge difference in performance when I put the car into Sport+ and Manually shifted. |

I have my car VO coded from 205 to 2TB and a few days ago the car went in for a service for a trim issue and they found some fault codes in the transmission. The SA said the trans was constantly looking for the paddle shifter so there were some fault codes being generated. Looked at the FEM module and it has the paddle shifters as being active by default if you code 2TB so you might want to manually turn that off.

Thanks, will try it on my 328i tomorrow.
Edit: did work, I just FDL-Coded KOMBI, EGS and ICM with the values from above. Seems to work. I can see S1-S8 if I have the shift knob on the left, but don't see a big difference. Maybe because I'm driving a 328i anyways? Last edited by Montaxx; 03-02-2016 at 07:13 AM.. |
