Luxury Line Chrome Accents
I'm the proud owner of a 328i GT in mineral grey. However, throughout the year I've started to really hate the chrome accents on the car.
Am I the only one that's not into the chrome accents on the 3GT Luxury Line? I was wondering if anyone has made any attempt to remove the chrome whether it be vinyl wrap or aftermarket parts. |

Where the Luxury Line is concerned IMO one reason why you'd go for it is if you like chrome, so I doubt if you'd see many people trying to remove it. I'd say the exception would be if you bought used and literally had to take what you could get.

I like those chrome window trims pretty much, but I guess wrapping it might be the best solution and you won't have any problems if you change your mind after a while A guy had it done for 200 bucks on a f30 328i and it looked pretty decent.

look at this post from another member, he has a DYI where he did the kidney grills. I actually did this to my car after I saw the DYI. I sure the side vent will be easier.

I love the chrome highlights on my 335i Luxury in Mineral Grey, and I also loved them on my previous 328i Luxury GT in Midnight Blue. OP, I think with chrome, like so many things, there's no halfway, you either love it or hate it. So, if you really can't stand it, wrap it. Black will look good with Mineral Grey too.

IMO trim should either contrast with the body color or it should be the same as the body color. Mine is black trim on Midnight Blue, and I'm OK with it, but it doesn't really contrast and it's not the same color either, so I'm not wild about it. I could see liking chrome better. I prefer the chrome grille frame over black, but I don't care for the black grill slats. I have plans for those.
With a lighter color I could see the preference for black trim, as it would contrast. Along this vein I added body side molding to reduce the threat of parking lot damage. I didn't want to go with black, as it would look like an obvious add-on. Having body shop experience I painted some black molding Midnight Blue, rubbed out to a factory finish. It looks perfect. |

I started to get some pitting on my chrome window trim (F34 GT Lux) and it took the dealer a whole day to replace it all. He said that it was a PIA to remove it and it required that they have a auto glass guy come in and help with the small window near the back.

I talked to the dealer and the back side window and trim is all one massive piece. it would be well over a couple thousand to replace with labour. I wrapped mine and 6 months in looks fantastic still, i am careful of course, even when washing. no pressure washer there and installer said to be careful as it will get swirls when washing but has been fine for me. Here is pics. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1219083
