BMW Towbar 13 pin to 7 pin converter

Hi All,

Went to go and pick up the boat this weekend for it's first trip out of the year and as I went to connect the trailer board to the F30 for the first time I came across a small problem, the car has a Euro standard 13 pin socket and my trailer has a UK standard 7 pin socket.

I was just about to pop in to Halfords but I though I'd check on my phone first, and at the time I found an Australian post saying that using a non BMW converter can blow up the ECU (or something to that effect) so I put the boat away and decided to order a BMW one when I got back to a PC.

however I seem to be having a bad search day:
  • I can't find a BMW adapter listed anywhere for sale
  • I can't find the Australian post I saw yesterday
  • I can't find any mention of bad things that might happen if I use a Halfords adapter.

It might be easier to get a new trailer board at this rate. Anyone come across this before?

I bought a 13 to 7 pin adapter from my local caravan dealer with no problems whatsoever.

Thanks njc.

I found the Australian post I got on my phone yesterday...
http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...plugs-on-BMW-s

It's talking about a 2004 X5, as I can't find an adapter on the BMW accessories list for my 2016 F30 I'm guessing this was an old issue.

I might give the dealer a call to confirm, but the chances of finding someone who would know is probably slim.
