New 340i Owner

Hi All,

Just making a post here detailing my new-to-me 2017 F30 340i.

This is my first BMW, and I'm coming from the VW World - I miss my MK7 GTI for it's toss-able character, but the 340i is a rocket.

Have had it for two weeks now, and it's tough to stop grinning ear to ear every morning when I set off!

I found this car as a CPO in Florda, with 22000mi on it. Hardly run in at all, and is fully loaded aside from active cruise and heated seats. But who uses those in the Southern US anyway?

Specs

-Alpine White over black w/t aluminum hex & m-sport blue accent
-ZF 8-spd; I wanted a manual but it looks like you have to pay up for those, and the idea of 1-2-3-2-1 every day in traffic doesn't sound great
-M-sport pkg
-Track Handling pkg
-H/K audio
-CarPlay
-Tech/lighting/driver assistance +/etc. pkgs

I've already swapped out the chrome for black kidney grilles, had a tint job done (30% f1 pinnacle), and have played around in BimmerCode getting everything to my liking.

Gave her a wash today, car was covered in fall out. Not sure if it's the m-sport brakes giving that off, or the previous owner just didn't know why their car had chicken pox.
Removed easily with some Gtechniq though!

No plans as of yet for a tune, as the car is under warranty until 2022.
Who needs a tune with 330whp?

For exhaust I really like the sound of the Remus cat back, and I had good experience with a similar set on my GTI. Just enough character without any drone.

These are the exact same first things I did to my new-to-me 2016. Also installed a new amp and 12" sub in the trunk. I am right now about to pull the trigger on a flash tune. No more effin around. Nice ride. Enjoy it.

Yeah, I said the same thing about power modifications until I drove chenry car, and it made my 340i feel absolutely dull after getting back in the cockpit. Don't drive a tuned 340i, lest you want to play with getting the power mod bug . Now I'm on a stage 3 tune from Mission Performance, and my SPG went way, WAY up. Stock continental run-flats hate me right now, but a new set of rubber will be on its way shortly to handle putting the power done more easily.

Anyway, congratulations on the car! The B58 is amazing.

Grats on the 340, friend! I waited til my warranty was up prior to getting the AA catted DP and BM3 stg 2 tune. It feels like a different car. I agree with the comment about not driving a tuned B58 until you are interested in tuning your own. That's pretty great advice. Til then, enjoy the journey of getting used to it

I have 'almost' the same car. Looked for an i, ended up with an xDrive.

Still...nice car. Good luck to us both!
