Thumbs down AutoTecknik carbon fiber mirror replacement covers

Just wanted to give a heads up to those of you considering AutoTecknik products. I bought the AutoTecknik carbon fiber mirror replacement covers and carbon fiber dual slate kidney grilles recently for my f32 435. After a few months the carbon fiber weave became faded and distorted on the mirror covers. I contacted AutoTecknic but they refused to give me a replacement and instead want me to buy new ones at a discounted price. These are not quality products and I would not recommend this brand. In the second pic you can clearly see the discoloration.

Sorry for your troubles but thank you for posting this. I was under impression that AutoTecknik is better than most but it is good to know they are no better than China made stuff sold on eBay and such.

There are many vendors on here that sell their products that's why I wanted to let you all know. Hopefully no one else makes the same mistake I did.

As has been shown, most fall into the same category.

Yeah exactly. I see 2 options; AliExpress or the most reputable (read $$$) companies. No sense in taking a middle road US supplier that's just reselling the china stuff under their own name to make it seem more legit. It's not.

OP sorry this happened to you. I'd suggest getting a china pair and getting some UV protectant or just pony up the $$$ for OEM.

Alternative: buy some vinyl wrap and wrap them yourself when they get weathered you can wrap them again. You can get a roll for like $13. It looks great on my interior trim.

Learning from your experience, I would recommend sticking with OEM parts. I found Dinan cf mirror covers. They are cheaper than BMW so wont break the bank and they are on sale.

The discoloration has continued to worsen to the point where it's easily noticeable. It does seem like it has something to do with poor UV protection. The reason I bought their products is because the company is based in the US and many vendors on here actually sell their products. I don't know where they manufacture their products but any reputable company should be able to stand behind the products that they sell. I wanted to try a different style so I ended up ordering M style ones from proautomotion.com which seems to be a reputable company affiliated with KiesMotorSports.
