Heat shield rattle?

Installed new awe exhuast, now I hear rattling from below of center console/passenger side. Does anyone know where exactly the exhaust heat shield is located in a 2017 320i xdrive?

This is the B58 section. The exhaust is probably hitting something. Get under and take a look.

When I got my MPPSK exhaust installed by the official BMW dealer, they mounted wrong, and it was causing horrible rattling and drone in the whole car. In fact a screw was just touching the heat shield. That's probabably your problem.

Might not be the heat shield. You just need the exhaust riding up against the mid-brace.

If you look under the car from back to front (you can do this with the car on the ground), following the exhaust up to the engine, you can see if the exhaust is centered through that opening. Same deal if your DP was swapped, and allowed to get close to the engine.

I had same issue, added big flat washers as spacers and it fixed the problem

You added them to all the bolts/screws?

I did the spacer thing at first but just realized that the midpipe needed to be rotated a bit and torqued properly - it was too loose and was rotating every so slowly out of place. With the spacers it kept creeping down and hitting the midbrace. I have an AWE exhaust as well but mine is on my 340i rwd.
