F31 rear quarter glass remove & replace

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help. I've had a search but found nothing.
The rear quarter glass has cracked. The one on the back (not in the rear door). It's obviously taken a whack from the outside.
Been quoted £250 to replace it by local car glass place. However I'm worried that a replacement may not have exactly the same tint as oem privacy glass. I've also seen genuine bmw ones on ebay for about £50-60.
So 2 questions...
1. Has anyone replaced a rear privacy glass and did the colour match?
2. Is it easy DIY to replace rear quarter glass on F31?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Damon

Here's the procedure for rear quarter window removal. Note that you may have to click through the pre-requisite procedures too.

Thank you for the link. It doesn't seem that difficult.

I'd love to hear from someone that has had a similar experience i.e. replacing factory tinted glass with glass supplied by insurance recommended company (Autoglass)

Hi all! New here....

Don't suppose anyone still has a copy of that procedure?

Mine got smashed whilst on holiday; evidently someone wanted to see what brands of footwear my children wear, since they appear to have given up after leaving them on the street!

Have ordered a replacement from ebay, since it seems like considerably less faff than trying to deal with AutoFarce. If I just try unscrewing bits of trim from the inside, will it be obvious how to fit it? Conscious of the airbag on the c-pillar...

Thanks for any help!

Keep in mind your auto-glass shop probably clicks the same link since that's not a commonly changed item. Might as well cut out the middle man!

Part has arrived now - seems less straightforward than I was hoping - appears to have been glued in and cut out.

Perhaps I'll be letting AutoGlass deal with it afterall :-/

That's good to know. Same deal as a windshield install then. Not so DIY friendly
