I'm wondering where the BMW VIN decoders get their data from?

Is there a service hosted by BMW that they subscribe to or do they have a database dump somewhere?

Examples are 'http://bimmer.work/' and 'https://www.mdecoder.com/'.

Bimmer Work also shows you images of the vehicle setup as you would see in a configurator.

Anyone any ideas?

I can't get Bimmer.work to "work". It's just a CarVertical pay for play ad when I open that page.

Must be one or the other. How else would mdecoder know the date of production and ordered trim package of your car?
