Thoughts on Stage 2 Bootmod

I was stage 1 for a few months. The difference from stock to stage1 was dramatic. With stage1 the car drove like stock with one hiccup. The boost would come on dramatically at 3k rpms and it felt like to little boost below 3k rpms. I then installed Wagner's Hjs catted downpipe and I felt a little more power but it also smoothed out the to little boost feeling below 3k rpms. It did not completely even things out in the power delivery but it helped. Now I have had stage 2/ 93 gas installed for several days. First, I feel a significant power difference over stage 1. The power of the car is once again intoxicating. Second, the power delivery is more linear and smoother. The boost comes on low in the rpms and keeps pulling in a similar fashion all the way to red line. I'm worried that I'm stressing parts in my motor but its worth it. The car feels so much better and more powerful. I had a 2015 Vette for a short time and the bimmer now feels close to as strong as the C7 Vette. In summary, Stage 2 is a hoot!

Agreed, I threw a stage 2 tune on my 340 and so far I love the power I got from it, however if the car is idle it feels like it wants to shut off.

That’s usually a dirty MAF from what I’ve seen

I swapped from bm3 stage 1 to 2 on a aa catted dp. I found stage 1 too "touchy". Stage 2 is way smoother and cleaner logs, as long as you have access to good 93. 95% of time you are driving in the lower power band. Stage 2 ots is just fine. Change plugs every 20-30K and oil every 5k and party on....imo

Agreed. And since bm3 is so gas sensitive in regards to timing, I run stage 2 91oct and only use shell 93oct. Timing is clean as a whistle. Power is strong. I didn't find stage 1 jerky or have issues, but when people say the change from stage 1 to stage 2 is "no big deal", I basically think they're bullshitting lol

I'm looking forward to stage 2. I'm stage 1 now and it does feel really touchy on the boost like an on/off switch at times. My biggest issue is the RPM dips when idling which I think is coming from the tune but not really sure

Glad you are enjoying stage 2, no need to worry about stressing the motor. Stage 2 is 100% safe for cars with a downpipe. Just make sure you are using the correct map for your octane

If you have some ethanol in your area I would highly suggest an e30 blend. I am absolutely hooked and don't wanna go back, the amount of torque is insane, I spin tires in 3rd gear which never used to happen. I just have to get myself a HPFP for peace of mind. Logs show fuel rail psi drops and not sure how long thats safe to run for.

Upgrade the pump and get a custom E40-E50 tune and you’ll be crushing stock C7s.

I think ots map stage 2 is a bit unstable.

Such a solid map for me, stage 2 and 2+ after I upgraded the pump. I honestly don’t know what more I’d want from my RWD setup, car’s begging for traction

my HPFP rail pressure drops to 1000-1600 when DME targets 2800-2900... Emailed PTF, Sent me a revised E30 tune, have't tried it yet. What I would really want is just a nice 93+ tune flexable from E10-E30

Get a TU pump from Toyota and have Freddy at BimmersOnly near downtown Dallas install it for you. My stock HPFP was slowly dying (took about a year) on the regular Stage 2 E30 map.
