I have received Carlinkit version 9.2.20 for version B! from their sales:

Even changelog included:

1. All software, add automatic configuration Aec, and related Chinese translation;
2. For Lexus models, add the lexus carlife menu/back key to replace the left and right key functions (this setting option will only come out in Chinese mode);
3. When ACCOFF disconnects CARPLAY, turn off WIFI to disconnect completely;
4. NBT2 added back/menu switch, (NBT NBT2 EVO) reopened back/menu switch;
5. For all software, modify the Chinese and English text in the setting interface, and modify the Chinese "Carplay Auto Dark Mode" option to "Auto Dark Mode";
6. Adding headlights can control the AA map to enter dark mode (dark/non-dark mode), and the carplay map interface can also be controlled by the headlights to enter dark/non-dark mode;
7. Added the condition that the interval of automatically entering the carplay interface after exiting the carplay interface when a black screen is detected requires more than 3 minutes;
8. The default music volume of Mercedes-Benz is modified to 12;
9. The EQ in Audio is modified by default to SOFT (soft);
10. Increase the LOUDNESS (equal loudness) option, optional /400/800/2400/400+h/800+h/2400+h;

Hi it came with the box. I contacted the eBay seller for firmware update but they gave me an older version.

Thanks! The file says 9.2.20.yl.b2 and the color of the antenna connector is blue. I wonder if this is yet another hardware version. My antenna connection sure looks different.

Yeah, but changelog do look like it's a universal firmware for all carlnkit, I don't know. I think someone who know how to restore device and have easy access to it should try.

Thanks. Do you have the blue antenna connector version? What FW/MCU versions do you have?

EDIT:

Checked the modification date of the MCU files, the I3 version is probably the same as 20.10.22.xx mentioned by @dzeb.

v6.2 is the same as 20.06.02 on the first page (same CRC32 checksum).

v "unknown" Dated 2020/08/13 is the same as 20.08.13 on the first page (same CRC32 checksum).

I received this not too long ago. For Andream NBT A units (and early Road Top units that were compatible with Andream). Changelog and date is the same that Yulian posted, so not sure of any difference.

Switching from custom also blanked my X5 screen for me a while, overnight when car probably made a deep sleep with all devices off it all have brought back to life. But not with this firmware, I haven't tried it yet.

So it's working now? Did you flash both the sw and the mcu? If you previously flashed the Bimmertech mcu you may need to force flash the Carlinkit mcu after flashing the Carlinkit sw. The Carlinkit sw may not work with the Bimmertech mcu.

The file name seems to indicate that there is a new hw version, 9.2.20.yl.b2

Unfortunately I went back to the custom with force flash. Tried to install 9.2.20 2nd time now with the latest Bimmertech MCU taken from the first page (as other MCUs can't be installed with the custom FW onboard) with NIL help. Same black screen. So went back to the custom again. I noticed that force flash, when you get a black screen, works only when you turn the ignition off and waiting around 20 seconds for MMI to turn off. Apparently turns off in 2 steps, firstly you hear some kind of clunk sound from the speakers and in 1-2 seconds relay click. So you should press the back button between clunk and click and the hold it switching the ignition on. BTW seems that going back to the factory FW from the custom is impossible at least on carlinkit.

Also noticed that creation date of carlinkit and Bimmertech MCUs are the same. Both 20.10.2020.

I suspect that the problem may be the Bimmertech mcu. The Carlinkit sw will may not work while the Bimmertech mcu is installed.

Force flashing the Carlinkit mcu while running the custom sw then flashing the Carlinkit sw may work. I may try it myself later.

And yes, all power to the mmi must be off in order for the force flash process to work.

I tried to rename upgrade.bin to the upgrade_mmi.bin as custom SW can only see the second variant. But this didn't work and it says something like "upgrade_mmi.bin can't be found on the flash drive". But Bimmertech MCU with the same name installs without any issue.

Regarding the force flash. Pushing the BACK button between clunk and click is crucial, as after click sound force flash will not work, no matter how long you will still press BACK.

Not sure about new functionality, but it sorted an issue that PTBimmer and I were having with the MMI box remembering the "Enable Wheel Key" setting.

I updated the mcu and see in system information. No difference in menue but nice to have the latest mcu. hope they fixed the black screen sometimes at start-up

Now after couple of days with latest mcu: 20.10.22.16 Carplay feels more quick and nomore screen flashes. Not yet black screen at start-up, fingers crossed
