So the conclusion is none of the front components of the f80 will fit on xdrive? Is there anything that can be done to get more negative camber and improve the handling of a car with xdrive?

I'm confused there are too many arms in that link!

HPA ones are for front for sure.

I think two of the Megan ones are for the rear.

Hi, so in conclusion, only the OE F8x front LCA would fit the F3x platforms, but the TS wouldn't fit?

And even without the TS, the benefits would still be there?

Megan has 4 REAR links available for upgrade on the F30.

Yeah, i have read those. But that was no conclusion on how this would affect suspension geometry as pointed out in another post here.

utenigma , he seems to have installed just the LCA. Any issues so far? Have u tracked with the setup?

Save it for the track car. There stockers are plenty fine for street and track applications.

To be fair, I have F30 335, H&R sport springs, and I run a 18x9 ET42 wheel on the front with a 5mm spacer and 265/35R18 tires (Federal 595 RS-R at the moment)

The wishbones did a few things
- added about 1 deg of neg camber (sweet)
- moved the top of the wheel out a bit (reducing clearance to the fender)
- moved the wheel about 1/2 in forward in the wheel well, adding some caster (and further reducing clearance to the fender)

Immediately I noticed rubbing on the 1-3 o'clock position on the fender during suspension compression

I removed the 5mm spacers and replaced with 3mm spacers

Rubbing was reduced to all but basically bump-stop compression

To be absolutely fair, this is with WAY wider tires up front than stock - if you run stock 225's I can't imagine having the same issues. But I never had issues rubbing prior to the wishbone install.

Also, when you install the wishbones - align the front for toe before going anywhere - at least try to get it close. The F8X wishbones are 1" longer and will throw the toe out by a crazy amount. I put the car on the ground and the front was basically cross-eyed - had to run the tie-rods out by at least a 1/2 inch on each side to get it close. Spent some quality time later getting everything perfect.

Review: Even with the rubbing, I'm keeping them. You'd have to pry them from my cold dead hands

Am I likely to experience rubbing with the following setup?

Suspension: Either BMW M Performance Suspension Kit or Ohlins Road and Track coilovers.

Wheels: APEX ARC-8 18x8.5 ET38 (no spacers)
Tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sport 255/40/18

The wishbones sounds like a modification that will requirement an immediate alignment afterwards before even leaving the premises.

No issues for my M135i with M4 LCA at TD, nor after adding M4 TS's later on.

My reasons for installing these OEM parts were

- steering lacked feel;
- slow to turn-in and
- soft outer shoulders of MPSS tyres were wearing prematurely.

LCA (initially] and TS (fitted later on) are an OEM upgrade that sorted out all of the above foibles.

After adding M4 TS's to pre-installed M4 LCAs -

Geo - No impact on geo from having f8x LCAs pre-installed.

Visuals - Front ride height up a smidge. Front wheels now sited back in the centre of the arch.

Steering feel is same [IMHO] with LCA + TS as it was with LCA's only.

Braking - much sharper as one might expect with firmer TS bushes but this is marked improvement esp with my setup MPBBK, M4 sport pads and SS hoses.

NVH - slightly more in comfort but no change in sport+ mode - I think firmest adaptive damper setting is better suited to my aftermarket springs.

No regrets at all and TBH I'm happier now that I have matched LCA & TS as opposed dissimilar F8x LCA and F2x/F3x TS.

Gentlemen, while I have had a few BMW's over the years and have done a ton of work on them myself, I am a novice at understanding suspension geometry. Sure, I can change out suspension parts but understanding the impact of subtle or major changes is not something I fully grasp.

So, given the conversation throughout this thread I wanted to ask the opinion given the following;
2015 335 M-Sport (5 hole struts)
225/40/19 tires on style 442 wheels w/36mm offset (soon to be fitted with Michelin PSS)

What can I expect by swapping in the F80 LCA? Better camber, worse caster, alignment needed right? I don't track the car but drive aggressively both on windy roads and the highway in terms of straight line speed.

Also, I see a few comments about wear to the outer portion of the tire being improved on PSS tires. The comments gave me the impression that the PSS wear excessively on the outer edge otherwise. I was about to pull the trigger on PSS and one of the primary reasons of switching away from the OEM P-zeros was because of the increased UTQG rating of 300 vs other tires in the low 200 range (softer and more wear). I just want to still have confidence in buying the PSS regardless of whether or not I swap in the F80 LCA.

Thanks!

Same here, 2014 AH3 with 225/40/19 MPSS on 442M wheels

Better camber for sure, increased caster unless you also fit the F80 Tension struts, you'll love it for windy roads.

Alignment is more than needed, the LCA will completely change the toe so you can't even drive out.

On that wear aspect I can't comment other than saying nothing of notice is showing for my tyres.

Hi

So we installed the tension struts yesterday, using lemforder f30 bushings instead of f80 original bushings and a little help from a hydraulic press

This has allowed the wheel to go back a little bit, really not much, but rubbing seems to be gone now

You can increase neg camber by 0.5° using an alternative wheelhub instead of these arms:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=31_0994

Part #31216856535 / 31216856536 are compatible with X Drive

I have no idea what the complexity of installation is though.

A few more pictures for those who are interested in this alternative way of using F8x Tension struts:

You can see the wheel remains quite a bit forward in the wheel pit, the other side is worse as there is slightly more caster.

For those interested I'm selling these 2 wishbones + 2 tension struts as I'm getting the car back to stock.

Haha no, but things are complicated with french road regulations, more than anywhere else in Europe and i can't really do what i want, so i'm considering changing to an F80 M3 base when i get a chance to get one at good price, e90's are nowhere to be found (many e92s but i need 4 doors...).
