BMW iX

https://www.whatcar.com/news/2021-bm...::story1_image

"In addition, the 100kWh battery is expected to deliver a class-leading range of more than 370 miles in official WLTP tests. And if you can find a 200kW fast charger (they remain rare in the UK right now) the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in 40 minutes."

Interesting??

Shows a clear direction they're travelling in...

Lots of future tech going into it, though personally I'm looking forward to the time when a more standard (ie not i4) 3 series electric doesn't break the bank to own! That would probably be my go-to car for a full EV experience, maybe not next car material, maybe the one after that...

I think they should make it uglier. I could look at it for 5 seconds without having to look away.

The BMW design team must’ve been infiltrated by the competition. There’s no other explanation for the last couple of years.

It's been hit with every branch from the ugly tree, and they want a starting price of £80K.

I thought it couldn't get any worse. Clearly I was very wrong.

F*ck me. Even given some of their recent efforts BMW designers have outdone themselves this time. Beyond ugly.

Regarding the design it's another example of why EVs need to have this odd futuristic styling that fits nowhere else in the range. Nothing wrong with an X3/5 shape, so why not stick to it?

And I thought the new 4 series looked bad.....

Other than that, sounds like a good car!

All these people saying you get used to ugly cars - when the Fiat Multipla was launched back in 1988 I thought yikes what an ugly car. To this day it is still an ugly car so don't bank on getting used to the iX As always however, looks are subjective and for something in the region of £80K I'd want something a little more exciting or special, not a mass-produced barge.

They've also gone for the long merc style tablet dash which I can't stand. Makes the G20's reverse dial binnacle which I didn't particuarly like, look nice!

Bloody kidney grilles again. BMW, will you stop trying to sell a dead horse, call it a moment of madness and move one.

That colour choice really isn't helping the cause either.

Looks like BMW have looked at the Peugeot 308 for inspiration for their reverse rev counter design, which looks totally daft.

You don't buy an electric car because you are passionate about cars. You buy it for it's functionality - looks and sounds are irrelevant. Seems the iX is aimed at these people. What they might appreciate - and there seems to be a trend for this with electric cars - is that it looks different from the old petrol dinosaurs. Regardless if it's pig ugly at least you don't confuse it with the petrol version.

The all electric 3 series that was shown in its test drive guise, at least looks like a standard 3 with a slightly modified grille and no exhaust pipes - that's what I would want in an electric car, not something that looks like a Far East clone, and to be honest as soul-less as any Kia, Hyundai or MG (current players in the EV market)
