Little Brake Sounding Squeal in Reverse
I notice in the morning backing out of my garage, and just engaging the clutch it sounds like a brake squeal as the car starts moving. Parking braked is off and it's just for a second or two.
Is there maybe glazing on the pads or something? I periodically yank the E-Brake when coasting to a stop and also try and do some hard braking now and then to keep things clean.

I'm surprised you don't have more low speed brake squeal. My BMW and Audi both squeal like pigs at low speeds (though I park them outside). Time after time I've just been told they're high performance brakes so they're supposed to squeal
I wouldn't worry about it. |

bringing my car in for service today regarding a similar issue -- intermittent brake squealing when cold. (along with some others, automatic windshield wiper sensor not working, heated steering wheel turned off after an hour of use and wouldnt turn back on until i restarted the car).
ive been going back and forth on whether or not they are supposed to sound like that but it sounds pretty embarrassing rolling out of my driveway with these things squealing to holy hell. i spoke to one of my friends who used to work at bmw's service department and he said it is definitely not normal or acceptable, esp for a brand new bmw (~2100 miles). he said that the brakes should only be squealing for a few reasons: 1. cheap brake pads 2. not enough lube 3. loose brake pad shims 4. incorrect installation 5. low brake life indicator we will see what happens. i tried the whole bedding in process and it didn't do anything to help. Try some WD40 on the pads...JK JK...I was always told you should not use your e-brake except when you need it. Just curious on why you do that and who suggested it and why? Not debating just curious because all mechanics have told me the opposite.

From the manual: "To prevent corrosion and braking control on one side only, lightly apply the parking brake periodically while coasting, if traffic conditions permit."

I have a similar issue, sometimes it feels like my brakes are sticky. Like I'll let go of the brakes at cold start and the car won't move, and i'll have to depress and let go again to get it to start. But it's very rare. Maybe like one morning a month.

I get a squeal when the brakes are cold but I have to be pressing the brake. It goes away in a few minutes. Akebono pads . . . . when available should fix the problem.
