It seems odd that for my car without HUD where I want to display mph I'm going to have to spend twice the money and end up with a product thats much more difficult to install and less easily removed when the car goes for service or whatever.
On the bright side if you have the China clone part, you can actually splice the "proper" part into the same wiring harness and make it plug and play.

How do you mean? The China clone will be installed in another car unfortunately so I don't think I can sacrifice its wiring harness!

The only reason the original isn't plug-and-play was due to the fact that the designer likely wasn't able to find/produce the same male + female connector housing as the OEM one. The China clone, on the other hand, somehow did.

This entire thread explains it - two options, the Ebay clones which are simple and easy to install but will display the text 'kmh' under the speed limit in the instrument panel or the original one in the first post of the thread which is more involved to install, costs twice as much but will correctly display 'mph' under the speed limit in the instrument panel.

I'm currently running the ebay version in my F10, it works wonderfully and displays the correct speed limit in mph at all times, yet says 'kmh' under the number which is irritating.

Do the Ebay clones work with the EVO 2018 maps?

Any ideas? Thks
As written before with map 2017-1 it works perfectly. Now I have tested 2017-2, 2018-1, 2018-2, all maps cannot be used because of the speed problem.
Does anybody use an Emulator and actual map (Europe Next, 2018) and no faults?

Possible alternative?

Random thought ... Garmin DriveAssist 51.

$139 on Amazon.

Lifetime free HD traffic, speed limit data / warning, frontal collision warning, lane departure warning.

Of course, it's not integrated with your car's telemetry, so that brings with it certain limitations (e.g. it "false positives" more often because it doesn't know that you've signaled a lane change or are already breaking to avoid a car in front of you).

But it actually works quite well ... I have one for my old, "non smart" vehicles.

The basic difference is always with the clone to the real thing, thats no live data but database data - but displayed into cluster and HUD.
Additional Navi as substitute wouldnt match at least neither nor

I'm also interested in this. I have a 2016 330e F30. Could you please provide instructions on how to install the Ebay item?

This will only work if your map has SLI (Speed limit information) and results seem to vary based on country and map version. I haven't found a way to check this just by looking at the raw map data. Any ideas?

Not sure if I get the question right, but the speed limits are within the navi datas and you couldnt check the presence of them.
Even if youre having SLI or not, the data are present. Bimmer wouldnt release two different kinds of map material.
My F32 had navi pro and no KAFAS cameras, installed the emulator from the romanian guys and coded as required and it worked instantly for me. Cant speak for the clone but as read here previously I wont safe money for the wrong reasons

So last week I received my Chinese emulator and installed it following the steps below:

- VO code 8TH -> Check
- update HU_CHAMP2 and KOMBI (based on older version of psdzdata..) -> Check
- set HU_NBT (in my case I did this in HU_CHAMP2) speedlimit_info activ -> Check
- set KOMBI KI_PIA_SPEED_LIMIT activ -> Check
- set KOMBI HUD_PIA_SPEED_LIMIT activ -> Option not available
- set KOMBI SPEED_LIMIT_GENERATION activ -> Option not available

After this, I can see the three dashes in my Instrument Cluster. But helas, no speed limit signs.

I've Googled through this forum but couldn't find an answer to one question: does Move navigation (that makes it Business Navi, right?) contain speed limit info?

If the answer is yes, would using a newer version of psdzdata solve my problem? Or what else can it be?

Just fitted my “genuine” emulator to my f82. Very happy indeed - even uses RTTI (or some other voodoo) to update speeds through roadworks - where the speed is dropped on temporary limits it is adjusting.
Works flawlessly.

Would fitting one of these units void my warranty?

I'm keen to get SLI happening, but I still have about 2.5 years of warranty left and I'd hate for the dealer to tell me that I've blown my warranty.

They could argue if something happened to the cluster or associated wiring, but nothing else IMO.
You’d never be excluded from warranty on a gearbox issue or a wheel bearing because you fitted a small electronic box behind the dash.
Otherwise the same could be argued of a dashcam or tracker etc.

I totally agree, all you do is some simple coding, unclip a plug and insert the SLI emulator.

If you're concerned when your BMW goes in for warranty, just remove dash cluster and unclip SLI emulator.

How easy is it to remove the instrument cluster to install the emulator? I've never done it before.

Hi,

In my F26 X4 35d, the instrument cluster had 2 spring loaded clips at the top that had to be retracted to allow the top to be moved out.
