Have a question though, I am looking at getting the Ohlins R&T coilovers but in the guide it mentioned that rubbing could be an issue. Is this in the front and the back or just one end of the car (assume mainly the front but not sure). I am probably looking at a 18x8.5 ET 35 with a 18x9 ET 42 or maybe 38 but not wanting to get overly aggressive (EC-7R) The car will be used 95% on the street but a track day is not out of the question (I don't plan to be super competitive but would like some performance). It will be lowered to take out most but not all of the wheel gap (I understand Ohlins may not go this low but that is fine). I see in the rear the ET of 42 is recommended with the staggered setup but you also recommend the 18x9" with a ET 31 for the squared option. I figured splitting the difference couldn't hurt. As a note, I am not trying to run high negative camber just to fit the wheels. I would like my tires to wear somewhat normal and hopefully make 25-30k+ but won't hold my breath. |

Coilovers will typically only reduce inner clearance on the front of the car. Due to the suspension design on most modern BMWs, the rear clearances do not change significantly with aftermarket coilovers. I would honestly recommend the 18x9" ET31 with a 245/40-18 tire at all four corners. This setup will be a complete direct fit with no additional negative camber required and will have a deeper concave profile compared to the 18x9" ET42. Plus, you wont need to run spacers to clear your Ohlins coilovers as you would with the 18x9" ET42. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. -Geirsen

I wanted the same wheel dimensions as yours, but I was originally planing on VMR which seems to squeeze into smaller tires a bit better from what I can tell. |

And for the Vmr's, for the front is gonna be similar, like et35. Back is either 9.5 with et45. Or et35. |

Hey Apex,
I have a 2014 F31 X-drive that currently has a staggered setup. Will a square setup with 18x8.5" ET35/38 go on with no modifications and stay flush? Lastly, will the wide tires 245/40-18 work without any modifications or should I stick with the 235/40-18? Thanks! |

I'll throw my own questions into the mix. Hope it isn't too inappropriate for this thread.
Looking at the costs of setting up a wheel/tire setup for autocross using ARC-8s. The car is a totally stock RWD M Sport 435i with the THP. Is there any benefit in going with the 18x9 over an 18x8.5 wheel (square setup) if I'm going with a 245/40/18 tire? I'll be running 200-wear tires which might be a bit wider than normal summer tires. Are the 18x9 ARC-8's really only 18lbs? That's considerably lighter than some OZ's I looked at.

Looking for a set of ARC8's. Will this configuration fit without extra adjustments on my 340i M Sport 2018? I do plan on buying a coilover set such as the bilsteins for a good drop and stiffening it all up.
18x9 ET30 - 245/35-40 18x9.5 ET35 - 265/35-40 or even 275? |
