Scratch correction gone wrong! Need Help!!
Let my mom borrow my car while I was out and she took it through a drive through car wash. There was a light but noticeable scratch down the middle of the hood. I bought some B39 metallic grey BMW paint correction sticks off amazon that looked OEM and the color is completely off.
Why is the color not matched? What should I do? View post on imgur.com Will I have a better result with something like dr. Color chip? |

Touch up paint is very hard. Especially on anything of any size. I tried it once and will never try again. Save it for the professionals.
You can wet sand it down .. and the langka blob eliminator works well, just takes forever. If you really want you might be able to get it looking .. better than that but still pretty bad. Honestly with that right on the hood I'd go to a body shop now and cut your losses. |

the only thing that works in fixing minor paint problem is touch up spray paint
anything thats not spray on the surface will not look right....it will looks obvious and especially in an area like the hood... so now u really have no choice but to respray the hood if you wanna get rid of the eye sore |

Before you see the pro's I would hit up the car wash and ask for their insurance company; understand you take risks when using automatic car washes but the damage should not have happened to something that is stock.
Just my 2 cents. |

Since touch up paint is applied and assuming clear coat as well. I would wet sand it. Then use an orbital polisher and do a paint correction.

My car has the same color like you do.
I got the touch up paint from bmw before, and the color mixed well with my car. After a year, I wanna touch up on some other places on the front bumper. But the color didn't match anymore. A lot darker than before. You might try dr colorchip. The basic set cost around $40~ And you need to get some wet sandpapers, compound, and wax to get the job done better. |

It's basically a light polish.
