Question abt MPPSK + oem DP

For those with the MPPSK and a stock DP, how loud is the car is Sport/Sport+?

I would not want it much louder, when I'm on throttle heads turn, when I do "gunshots" people duck.

As Beek stated, the exhaust note is fairly loud during heavy acceleration on S/S+, but overall exhaust sound is perfect in my perspective, better than M3/4.

Also, there is a prominent drone when the car is under 2.5K RPM on 8th gear in highways. For that reason, I drive on comfort on highways and S/S+ everywhere else.

The on-demand gunshot sound is the best thing about the MPPSK. I am able to produce it 100% of the time when I take my foot off of the gas at 4K+ RPMS, any gear. It is so loud and powerful up to the point I can physically feel it popping beneath me.

For that reason, I check underneath the car to see whether the clamp has loosened from the pops after spirited driving... which is like.. every time lol.

Beek and Hoonywise are spot on.
I agree there's definitely some drone in Sport/S+ when running lower RPMs (around 2000-2500) on the freeway, so I also drop to Comfort if I don't have a reason to punch it.

The sound when I'm driving around town is beautiful in Sport/+. Love the exhaust note when accelerating. I just have to watch it because the gurgles, pops, bangs and gunshots happen a lot in my 6MT. I'd be curious to know it happens with the same frequency for 8AT drivers.

Given California's noise laws (knock on wood), it's a huge plus to be able to quickly switch to Comfort at the first sign of a squad car.

I can echo all of the above. I've had MPPSK on my car for around 15k miles now. On the highway I always have it in comfort because the noise/drone at those speeds is pretty bad. The exhaust really does sound great though. When I first had it installed, I had no idea how loud it actually was. I watched some videos to see what I thought before buying it but it doesn't do the exhaust justice. In fact, I'm still surprised that BMW designed an exhaust you can buy from them that's this loud

On a side note, I thought the pops/burbles/overrun were a little bit over the top so since I have BM3 I adjusted them to basically be non-existent. Just a personal preference though.

Thank you - exactly the same for me - I had no idea how loud it was. The GM of my local dealership could not believe it either - could be borderline illegal in some parts of the country
So, I'm thinking of doing the same - BM3 - the question I have is: does BM3 have the baseline MPPSK tune?

Yep, whenever you buy the BM3 license and activate it with your car it will automatically back-up your "stock" tune.....whatever that is on your car, be it actually stock or MPPSK.

So whenever you switch back to your "stock" tune it will actually be the MPPSK one. I just switched mine back a few minutes ago because I'm taking my car in for service tomorrow morning and it worked perfect.

Thank you - I'm sold - I have the BM3 tune on my M2C - I really like the ability to change the torque; burbles etc.

lights go green, push down on gas, up to second, foot off the gas before redline, wait for gunshots to stop, shift up and keep driving.

haven't noticed any difference in sound between sport and plus.

It's relatively loud in S/S+, but not crazy. It's surprisingly aggressive for an OEM option, and I don't think I'd want to change out the downpipe for a catless or even aftermarket catted version, as this would make it obnoxious.

If I ever decide to get a BM3, I'll keep my stock downpipe in place, as I don't think they are as restrictive as folks think. As a matter of fact, I've never seen a dyno show a material gain on a B58 from just a downpipe swap alone.

The burbles and gunshots are an extra plus, and I love the adjust-ability of the system.
