yeah with a custom tune for it. why would you want to run without the primary air metering source?

You can run without it if your car is tuned

Easier just to try it instead of discussing here. After a while you will get a CEL but car will drive like normal. Nothing need changing in the .bin. MAF has nothing to do with boost control, that is your MAP and TMAP.

If you want to run aftermarket intake - unplug MAF + code out the CEL
Running factory - keep it

that's not the best way to do it.

Or just do the logical thing and keep the stock intake with the MAF sensor? I would like to understand what you are trying to achieve with running without the MAF sensor.

we are in agreement.. unless you have an intake that specifically is causing weird issues with your maf, in which case you should switch intakes... there is no reason to bypass the maf.

so if i keep Maf sensor. should i keep diameter of intake tube same as stock in place where maf is located ? or if i make bigger intake i can just put in sensor without modifying calibrations in bin ? i mean when i changed map sensor some offset number needed to be changed in bin to get correct readings. is same thing needed to be done in this case ?

The MAF housing has a specific size and shape, in addition to having a "mouth" that is designed to smooth airflow and reduce turbulence where the intake air meets the MAF sensor. All of this in the stock intake contributes to a stable and reliable MAF reading.

The map sensor is different because going from a 2.5 to 3.5 bar MAP sensor means the actual range of the sensor changes. Its still the same voltage range, but the actual pressure range is different. So if you don't calibrate this, when you read say 5v, the actual pressure the DME sees will be wrong.

It would be difficult (and no one has done it to my knowledge), to try and recalibrate a MAF sensor for a different intake. This is why some intakes throw CEL, cause rough idle, etc.

Backing up a bit, you don't even need to change the diameter of the intake tube... the stock one is fine... I can't explicitly say for a upgraded turbo application since i only tested stock turbo, but i expect any actual gains to be had by doing a larger/custom intake are negligible, especially if you run a load based tune.

you don't need to make the intake bigger unless you're running 800hp

Just remembered I have a video running MAF-less and even removing the entire intake to see what happens FYI: Not much

Sorry, I have no idea!

If you like to experiment with home-tuning then the bootmod3 is probably the best platform with its built in function.
