MNBart-
For some reason it's not letting me message you. I am looking at the 328i M Sport. The proverbial RWD vs xDrive debate is alive, though I'm about 90% set on RWD as my last two Bimmers were RWD. I don't get sport suspension with xDrive, so I'd have to get DHP. That's a $3k increase over the RWD model, and really it would only be NEEDED for about 3 or 4 days per year since I live in the metro. I am also looking at a low mileage Audi B8 S4 S-Tronic as an alternative. I am likely going to expand out from BMW of Minnetonka, just to make sure I can get the best price possible. Ideally though, I'd like to take the lowest offer from wherever I can get it, and present it to either Mtka or Motorwerks and see if they'll match or beat it (if it's not one of them). The thing about Mtka is that if I buy it there, I was told that I can get free car washes there anytime, allegedly. Seems petty, but that's actually swaying me a little bit. I live in NW metro, so it's a lot more convenient than going to Bloomington. |

yea, messaging has been really weird. I can message you the contact info for the guy that sold me my car at motorwerks. Minnetonka wasn't a choice for me since they didn't have any 335s and i'm not sure if they have any now. It would be perfect though since I'm in Wayzata on the weekends. The M-Sport is a good choice though and hopefully a little easier to find.
the B8 S-4 would be great. I imagine trying to find a used one around here might be pretty hard since there are only a couple Audi dealerships in the area. Great car though. I was debating between the 2 cars as well but I liked the bmw a little bit more. in my opinion, it wasn't as raw (don't know if thats a good word to use but it's the first that came to mind - probably due to the exhaust) |

It really depends on what you're looking for. I've had great service at both. I have no experience with BMW of Mtka's service department since they moved, but back when they were Sears BMW, I had excellent service from their parts and service departments, but also the same with Motorwerks.
For the 2013 BMW Center of Excellence Awards, BMW of Mtka was rated #31 and Motorwerks was rated #32 if that gives you any idea how close they really are. Everything you hear from people will be anecdotal based on personal preference. In 2012, Mtka was ranked #29, but Motorworks did not receive an award. Neither made it in 2011. I would say that it would really depend on what is closer to you and what fits your needs better. The customer amenities are better at Minnetonka IMO. However, it's sort of just open to what you want. For me, Mtka wins out because it's 9 miles from my house. When I put out an electronic submission to dealerships across the midwest, I got my offer from Motorwerks before Mtka, and took the Motorwerks offer to Mtka and asked for a better price, so they beat it. I did a dealership Thunderdome with several dealerships to get my car for under invoice (includes incentives). For me, the big plus for Motorwerks is that they are a Dinan dealer/service center, and Mtka is not. I want to Dinan3 my car once they come out with stuff, in which case I'll have to switch to Motorwerks for service. |

My PM isn't working for whatever reason, so I'll post it here. It's no secret or anything.
You go to the BMW USA website and configure your car. Once done, click on the button on the right that says "request a quote". You then can select the dealership you want a quote from. You have to do the e-form individually for each dealership you want to contact. I would recommend that you send it to Motorwerks, Minnetonka and BMW of Sioux Falls at a minimum. Sioux Falls actually had the lowest price before incentives, but I didn't want the hassle and the price wasn't enough to make me want to put up with it. Still, I used the quote to my advantage. You then basically just take one quote to another and say "here's what they offered me, what can you do?" If you get a quote from Park Place BMW in Rochester, be careful- they're idiots. I've dealt with them numerous times over the years for service and sales questions and such and they're inept. Also, if ownership is important to you, Motorwerks is owned by Roger Penske/Penske Racing, and Minnetonka is owned locally by the Polad family. |

Hey Gary. The E92 is still going strong! Coupes have back seats too, you don't need extra doors for kids... Make it out to any local events recently? I've been way too busy for it sadly.

I got to C&C and the CCA Picnic last Saturday, but that was the first time I made it out with a car for many months. Between work and a new family I've not had much time either. We moved south of the river last year too, so I'll keep an eye out for your car! |
