Bootmod3 N55 PWG172X OTS map update - Version 8.1

N55-PWG172X OTS map update version 8.1 is out!

Version 8.1, February 22, 2020:

Boost/load control changed
Power and torque increase

We managed to get 1 psi more out of the PWG turbo across the RPM range Resulting in a nice HP and TQ bump

Graphs attached are shown as HP/TQ, PS/NM. HP and PS alone to see the HP increase with a better resolution!

I'm trying to reflash but I'm being told my OBD agent isn't up to date. I have updated in the app multiple times but every time it "successfully" updates to the newest version my connection drops out and will not re-connect. Once I turn everything off and connect I have to do this same process over.

How was this achieved? VANOS adjustments? I assume you were already running the turbo at full tilt?

Link to the logs?

Hello guys' I have the gts start up roar turned on with 8.1 and it doesn't sound as good as 8.0. I've flashed it back and forth, but don't realize anything different. Anybody else having this issue?

I loaded ver.8.1 as well with GTS roar (had it on 8.0 as well), I notice that sometimes it works but sometimes it just starts normal without throttle blip.

Just went for a short pull and the tune is running amazing, I was planning to custom tune when buying BM3 but have been very happy with OTS maps.

thinking of either buying Stg2 AGG map or just going custom tune.

Thank you. I'm getting the same issue. The power is really nice though. It's a little bit more touchy from a dead stop

cross posting from FB group...

so I flashed this today and beat on the car for about an hour. got a couple WOT pulls also, but for some reason the data log start up kept lagging when I'd double click a gauge, so I was only able to get 1 usable log (if you trim it)

http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5e545bd1d10b4323c83975ec

first impression is that everything seems a little smoother. I no longer get the 3k-5k rpm hesitation blips (partial throttle) which seemed to coincide with the HPFP crashing vs target during WOT. in this log it looks like HPFP seems to hold up all the way through, but I seem to get a knock at 2900 RPM and the throttle cuts out immediately after. also seems like I'm not achieving target boost almost all the way through out. am I reading this correctly?

Is this a stage 1 tune? What octane map are you running, whatever it is it is wayyy too aggressive for your fuel quality.

Stage 2 ACN 91 v8.1

Are you saying that due to the wacky timing?

Edit: damn I just remembered I ran some injector cleaner through the tank this last fill up and haven't completely gone through the tank yet. I'm guessing that would have an impact.....

Boost target looks low for stage 2 but it may be reduced due to such poor octane and so much timing being pulled.

Injector cleaner won't make any difference or negatively impact octane quality.

Honestly, this log looks kindof terrible.

Knock at 2700 then 2900 (both after WOT). After the 2nd one, you overboost briefly (not too bad), but then throttle get closed down to 38%... you dont reach fully open throttle again until 6000 rpm. Despite throttle not being fully open, you drop below boost target shortly after the overboost and continue to deviate further and further below target until you are 7, yes 7psi below target, making only 9.5 psi compared with 16.5 psi target at the top end. Have you seen this before in your logs? That is a massive deviation. Maybe a bunch of WGDC got pulled because of the knock? Timing also looks pretty bad as noted.

You really need to get a few solid 3rd/4th gear logs to make sure this is an anomaly and not normal behavior for the tune.

That type of deviation is absolutely normal past 4500rpm on a stock turbo pwg car. It is the tubing strategy that provides the high boost target, no stock turbo pwg car is ever going to be hitting target boost past 4500rpm to redline.

That is the least of this guys concerns. The fact his timing is so terrible on the lowest octane map possible is the big problem.

It's more than just the boost deviation, but yeah, are you really saying PWG wont hold more than 10psi to redline?

Timing was crap for me on the 7.1 version as well. On the couple logs I got on that version, it showed the same crazyness.

Other than trying different fuel, what else can I do about it?

Mix in some e85 or use boostane. First off you should try a different gas station, do some research on fuel suppliers in your area and talk to other enthusiasts about where the good gas is at

Seems like you have the 3rd gear torque limiter, did you flash the free TCU flash ? It gets rid of this. Also, octane in this log isn't the best.

Thanks Halim! I've been hesitant to mess with the transmission flashes since I had to retrofit my paddle shifters in and drive with the paddles 95% of the time. Had read that there were some issues with the paddles being delayed after flashing. My car did not come with 2TB, but I will give the TCU flash a try and hopefully get some better logs in.

Will have to try out some different gas stations as well. Looks like the Shell up the street from me sucks

If you are in LA area as indicated, there is E85 all over the place... Check out pearson fuels app and/or the other E85 station finder websites. That is probably your best bet and you will likely only need 2-3 gallons per tank to clean up the timing.

If you really want to stick to 91, costco is generally the best.
