Transmission Temperature Diagnostic Tool?

I did a quick search and couldn't find any related threads. I'm looking for a good diagnostic tool I can purchase to check transmission temp while I do a transmission fluid flush.

I've got bootmod3, that wouldn't happen to have that diagnostic built in?

When I did the transmission fluid and pan change on my E90 335d, I used an infrared thermometer like this one.

Any mid-level BMW scan tool will do. Ex. Alltel

I haven't tried it but my Bluetooth OBD connector that I use for BimmerCode also has its own app that puts real time gauges on my phone. I use it mostly for the boost gauge but it probably has a transmission temperature gauge capability. I'll have to play with it.

Hello, could you find a scanner to read the Transmission Temperature? I am looking for that too.

If you chose to use an infrared device, be sure to let the temp of the fluid have time to soak through and be reflected by the pan you are reading the surface temperature.

Think trans temp is one of the few parameters bm3 doesn't monitor.

Bavarian Technic's Scan software also reads the Trans Temp (in C). I've had this for years and works for me.

I used ISTA+ via the fluid change procedure when I changed out mine.

I am curious though (and a bit surprised) - when I see similar threads, I see a lot of recommendations for Foxwell NT and the like, but rarely do I see recommendations for ISTA+.

Is ISTA+ an inaccurate/inferior solution compared to, say, the Foxwell NT, for measuring transmission fluid temps? Wondering if I used the "wrong" tool for the job.

Not allot of people have Ista+ set up or the know how/patience to set it up properly.
Ista+ is great once it's properly set up and functioning.
