General Maintenance for 2013 F30

So I recently just bought a 2013 328i with 58 thousand miles on it. I drove another 4 thousand on the car in the last couple months, but I am new to the bmw scene and what I need to do to maintain the car. I was reading about changing the spark plugs at 60,000 miles and checking fluids, but I wanted to see if there was anything else I should look out for. I still haven't found a good independent mechanic so I want to learn more about the car and what I need to do to not get overcharged. The car is currently at 62,00 miles so any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. (Also, I am a college student that wants to maintain a budget on the car)

Definitely due for transmission service if you want to be timely but can be put off to 75k.

For the rest did you have any maintenance history? I always change oil regardless of what was said. Brake fluid, also can be checked. Accessory belt and tensioner.

Only way you'll maintain budget with a BMW is performing work yourself, you'll save a ton.

Check FCP euro, ECS tuning, for kits for spark plugs / coils.

You have a N20/26 engine which is notorious for timing chain issues sadly.

Best thing you can do is to read a lot here.

You can replace your air filter and cabin air filter...wiper blades...oil unless it's shiny clean.

For $100 in tools you can probably do 90% of what the car needs. Also, don't get lured into the world of mods--your budget will be blown, as might various parts of the car!

Rinse its undersides if you live in a place where they salt the roads in winter.

I bought mine at 58k.

Shortly after I did the following;

- Spark plugs
- Cabin/air filters
- Transmission/diff fluids
- Brake fluid

At 80k miles - shocks/struts and all hardware.

2018 BMW X5  [0.00]
2014 BMW 428i  [10.00]
After my CPO warranty was up, I did the following:

Transmission service
Coolant flush
Oil Change
Differential fluid change
Spark plugs and coil packs
Drive belt and tensioner
Brake fluid

All are DIY, can be done for under $1000 and don't require any tools that are out of the ordinary. The only one I had the local indy shop do was the brake fluid.

I bought my 13 with 68k miles and the first thing I did was a transmission service and flushed all the fluids. My serpentine belt was also beginning to crack so I did that as well. It's worth checking that while you in there. As stated above everything total was well under $1000. I'm at 72k now and haven't done my spark plugs yet but I'll certainly have a look at them next.

I bought a high mileage 2012 BMW a few years ago with 119,000 miles. I now have 142,000 miles. After 2.5 years of ownership this is how much I spent on maintenance and performance items:

VRSF Charge pipe - $239 Original Plastic one blew apart
Plastic coolant hose $46 Cracked
Water Pump and thermostat - $414
Engine valve cover and gaskets -$120 Built in PVC Valve went bad
Oil filter housing gasket kit $70
Fuel injectors $578
Brake pads front and rear $115
Shocks $671
Eccentric shaft and installation parts (ie, gaskets, teflon rings, etc.) $1091
Valvetronic motor, special tools, gaskets $290
Tires $800
Ignition coils and spark plugs- $200
VRSF Intercooler $379
MHD tune $500

Total $5513

I'm installing the eccentric shaft this weekend after the valvetronic motor installation didn't solve the problem. It's definitely expensive to maintain with high mileage. Transmission filter and fluid change is next.
