I think, it makes sense to do a backup before certain parameters are changed in the control units.
Is that correct?
If yes, how do I do it and with which SW.
I ordered the dongle from Bimmers Connect.com. (Black)
Can I do this with my iPhone or, better with a laptop wired connectet to the Car?
Possible, the Bimmercode.app is for programming and not for Back up only.

I don‘t know what is possible with an iPhone app, but with E-Sys on your Laptop you can backup all codings easily.
If you even can not get any further, you can also reset everything to the factory settings.

Yep I've installed E-Sys on my Lapi, but I'm not yet familar with the Function.

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=715297 this guide should help you. Look under Full backup of Car's configuration files you will see how to backup CAFD (ncd) files. These ncd files contain coding data for each corresponding module that has coding data. Save them in a different backup folder as they get overwritten. Backup FA and SVT in case something goes wrong
