I just bought a 2018 340xi that has the terrible 6.5" display with no nav. I've put in my VIN at realoem but all it's showing for 8.8" options are touch screen, which would be nice but seems crazy expensive and I have no idea if it would even work with the head unit.
Does anyone know what 8.8" non-touch display would be compatible? A585628 |

looking on ebay - i see a few selling around same price as one i paid (non-touch for my f48). i'd go the touch screen route as it should work with your current HU just fine. Most 8.8 cids are generally around the same price. |

Hi all. I've been lurking for some time and I've finally decided to take the plunge and upgrade to the 8.8" iDrive screen. I'm confident with the coding and installation but I'm really struggling to find the right screen! I cannot understand what real oem is telling me and I don't want to blow a few hundred quid on the wrong screen! The last 7 digits of my vin are K488287. Could someone help me with the screen please?

After a quick glance, I looked at 2018 320i for USA, which obviously is a LHD car, and it shows same number for 8.8 touch of 65508709339 So I think you can get any 8.8 screen, touch screen or not, for LCI and it will work Since it appears there is no difference in RHD vs LHD for displays, I think any 8.8 screen you get for LCI model will work - pre-LCI screen won't work due to different voltage (unless you get a voltage regulator) For my 2017 LCI 320i, I could get 65506822626 and it would work I think the same would be for you Also, when searching ebay, try using just last 7 of part number If I type in search bmw display 8709339 I see many results Hope that helps Last edited by ragenitro6; 07-26-2021 at 09:54 AM.. |

I've just ordered an 8709339 from eBay which I'm hoping will be with me by Monday.... If you never hear from me again it'll be because I've lost my mind trying to get it to work!

Just checked and I've not got display_size_resolution listed under 3000 hmi on bimmercode. Evidently I've got entry nav and didn't realise!
Cancel this. Found the right code. Last edited by Conz2912; 07-28-2021 at 12:33 PM.. Reason: Error |

According to this post this entrynav2 HU works with the touch screen.
My question is: can I retrofit this HU with this touch screen (or a compatible non touch screen) to an early 2017 f20 lci model? Currently I have basic media HU with ID4. Anyone can help with the procedure? |

Fitted the screen today and it works a treat! Really good thread and thanks for all of the help. Only issue now is my satnav shows my car around 600m off of the road when I'm driving.... Any ideas?!

I've just received my 8.8 screen today and installed it right away.
Works like a charm! I have a 2015 320i (pre LCI) - HU Entrynav and the screen that I've installed was "65509292248" Coding is very simple with Bimmercode; Code:
HU_NBT > 3000 HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480 HU_NBT > 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display |

I have just upgraded to a 8.8 screen on my 2017 f23 and used bimmercode to do the coding but it didn’t function correctly some things were displayed in full screen others only on the left of the screen as if in split screen mode.
After a lot of searching I found this post on the bimmerfest forum and after using the info provided all worked correctly so with thanks to user MJE60 on bimmerfest here is his post Using Bimmercode in expert mode HU NBT 3005 display_pip_config section Change CID_Display_res from 800x480 to 1280x480 Change CID_Display_ size from 6.5 to 8.8 Now go out and enter 3001 EXBox section and find Display_Variante and change from schmal (German for narrow) to breites (wide) Now go into 3006 Navigation section Find Display_Size_Resolution and change from 800x480 to 1280x480 In brief 4 coding changes in 3 separate section of NBT HU ecu All changes require expert mode. Screen works after first two 3005 code changes, nav will work also but you need to change res in nav section to get full screen effect in map view and finally section 3001 Display_Variante change is needed |

Just fitted an 8.8" screen in my F30 (2016) using part number 9387453. Blank screen on initial install; coded using bimmercode changing 2 entries, didn't need 4 code changes. Fired up with no problems and all appears to be working including navigation in full screen.
Had to release head unit though as connection length to screen had extremely little give. Was actually easier than I imagined. |
