Oil Temp Fluctuations

I have a 2015 328i, build date 2/15, with 23k on the clock. I’ve had for few months now. Driving yesterday in temps close to or at 100 degrees on the interstate, I noticed a drop in oil temp to 160 degrees on 2 occasions. I pulled off the highway both times, to stop and it didn’t move. There were no warning lights etc. Eventually, got back on freeway and the temp normalized to 220-230 after a few minutes or so. Drove another 70 Miles, back home and no issues. Any thoughts?

Thermostat acting up? 328 has an oil temp rather than a water temp gauge?

My 328 has an oil temperature gauge. AFAIK all F30s do.

Thank you for reply. Replaced thermostat, under warranty. I wasn't taking any chances.
