Trickle Charger Recommendations
As the title suggests, any suggestions on trickle chargers?
BMW sell their own, however is anyone using something else? Most decent chargers have overload protection etc, so is there any reason to purchase a BMW charger? |

Don't say trickle charge - the technology has changed! I've used a Battery MINDer Plus for years due to its ability to remove sulfate from batteries. I see they've come out with a newer model (1510) that has lights to show you where the battery is in the charging cycle, similar to the CTEK. I recently got a great deal on the CTEK Multi US 4.3 (same one re-branded & sold by BMW for more $$) & like it, too.

Thanks all.....CTEK seems to be the way to go.
I'm currently using Projecta chargers for the bike and tractor and have worked well for the past 5 years, but they don't show the charging cycle. |

Solar Trickle Charger for X3?
I've read the site for years, been a BMW owner for 15 years, owned several X3s.
Since Covid hit I have left the US for months at a time. Last year I was gone Jan-Oct, and left my 2016 X3 i35 sitting in the driveway. Came back started it up no problem. This year I left in January just got back April 20. Started up and drove it but error message says that the battery is discharged. Screen doesn't work. I plan to drive it for 1 1/2 hours tomorrow. Here's my question. I've looked into CTEK etc and I want a trickle charger, but I can't plug it in. I'm in a sunny area and could use a solar charge if there is one that would work on my 2016 X3. Any suggestions? I expect to be gone 3-4 months a year. Thanks, please be nice.https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/im...milies/lol.gif |

I also have the C-Tek, make sure you get the one with the AGM and standard battery option as the charge voltage is slightly different. Our stop/start batteries are AGM.
