F30 brake reset impossible
Hey guys i know there already a lot of threads about this, but i still cant find the answer. So i changed all the pads on my car (2012 328i F30) and left my front sensor because it was still good, the rear sensor was tripped so i replaced it, and now it says that "Brake reset impossible" and this is only for rear pads, front reset worked just fine, and i tried unplugging it and plugging back in and all that even tried looping it with a wire just to be able to reset it, no luck, any thoughts on this? Or maybe someone that had the same issue and found a solution for it.

Because of the fact that the first wire is not intact, no reset is possible. Replace the front wear sensor. |

What are you using for a diagnostic tool? A good one, like the Foxwell NT510, can tell you if there are any active codes and clear any old codes, which may be necessary before you can do a reset. I had the rear warning trip and it wouldn't reset until I changed the sensor, but as I recall after changing the sensor I cleared all the codes before I did the reset.

For diagnostic i used my friends i forgot what brand it was, but it can do a lot of things, so we went a checked my brake system and it had a code ---480A14 Brake pad wear sensor: Rear axle, plausibility--- So this was with an aftermarket sensor from ebay, then i went to the dealer and bought a new one OEM, replaced it, and still same thing and this code, everytime i erase it it comes back on like same second, so even erasing through diagnostic tool is not helping, any one have any ideas?

Yes. It will also tell you why a reset isn't possible when that happens.

The sensor plugs onto the pad on one end, the other plugs into a connector that's hanging from a clip that's attached to the chassis. I suggested that because when I changed my pads and left the original sensor in place I couldn't clear the codes. I had a new sensor, so I swapped it and then the codes cleared. I didn't bother to examine the old sensor to see what it was about it that the car could tell that it hadn't been replaced, but I figured that maybe disconnecting it from the chassis connector triggered something in the control module. It could even be that the old sensor would work if it's disconnect to trigger the module and then reconnected. If I didn't have a new sensor I'd have dug deeper and figured out how to reuse the old one, but I had the new sensor.

I thought the sensor was simply 2 switches, so 3 wires which when it starts to wear simply breaks the first followed by more wear and then the second.
If what I’ve said above isn’t ballony then there should be continuity between the contacts. |

Some searching turned up this:
https://www.moderntiredealer.com/art...warning-lights And this: And this: https://wiki.bentleypublishers.com/d...W+5+Series+E60 You should be able to test the sensor with a DMM, measuring the resistance between the two pins on the chassis connector plug end. It should be at most a few ohms. A high reading or an open circuit would indicate a bad sensor. |
