I put the Borla S-type on my F33. Found out after purchase that it wasn't compatible with the convertible but I made it work. I really like it.

I've been doing a lot of reading regarding exhaust options on the 40i engines (you may have seen the thread I started) and to me it looks like there aren't many cheap options other than what PCW Exhausts do. Previously you could do a resonator/mid silencer delete but that's not possible on PPF/GPF cars now.
PCW Exhausts seem to mod the silencer and back box to get the results they do which doesn't cause any engine management lights on these new cars. Not too pricey so I think I'll be going that route when I'm in a 40i. Are you sure you have a PPF/GPF car? It sounds like you've had it a little while now so you may have a car that was built before July? If so you'd be able to get just the MPE fitted from a main dealer for around £700 I believe. That's if any of them still have stock. If I was you I'd save £500-£600 and get an exhaust shop to cut out the silencer in the mid section of the exhaust. That'll get you pretty close to what an MPE sounds like. That's if your car is a pre July 2018 build though. |

My localish dealer D Park in Hamilton were £1650 fitted, when you consider that is a valved cat back system with an ECU tune which keeps the warranty intact then it isnt too bad , in man math terms. Kenny |

Local dealer initially told me the MPPSK was £3,500! Got it for £1,700 + fitting.
Love the fact that with the MPPSK you can turn down the soundtrack if you want to, to near stock levels

I paid £1750 for mine. Had a few slightly better offers at the time but went with Coopers Reading because they had the experience of having installed dozens of MPPSKs, which I thought was important, particularly as far as the remap was concerned, which can be problematic. Worth asking the dealer how many they've done

Thanks both. Good tips. Sytner just rang and still quoted £3,500 fitted! Told them I was getting it done for half of that and they said they couldn’t get even close and the parts are worth £2k. Not to worry as I’m set on this now. Good point about experience fitting them though. Thanks

Thanks for this. Rang Cooper York (as my local dealer is also Cooper) so this worked well. They said they could do £1,500. Rang my dealer who can’t go that low but agreed £1,650 and I don’t have a trek for 300 odd miles! Really happy with that price. Thanks for the tip.

Right. It’s on. Took all day to fit and tune. Sounds amazing and you can feel the power increase. It basically takes the car to the point where it would need full blown m kit if it was any more powerful. The only thing is I can’t get gunshots out of it no matter how hard I try or blip the throttle. Took it back to dealer and they confirmed it had been mapped fully and said I need to give it time to bed in?

May need to bed in but there was talks earlier in the year that gunshots were mapped out, my mid 2017 fitted mppsk still does frequent gunshots when you rev to 5k and lift off in sports mode. i have to specifically mention to the dealer not to perform any software updates when the car goes in for services.

I've done around 5k miles since mine was installed and it's noticeably deeper and louder. Comfort is now loud enough for me and I rarely use Sport as it's too raucous for my taste. You can't have the car in Sport without the exhaust valves being fully opened, so when I want to press on, I slip the stick to the left instead and job done - plenty quick enough for me and when you pass 4k revs, both valves open fully anyway

PCW Exhaust
Quote:
I saw Paul from PCW Exhausts yesterday and got my post July (ppf filter) 440i modified. I managed to get a cancellation appointment - he's incredibly busy (people are travelling miles to see him). Took him 1.5hrs to perform the mod. Youtube link below. The video doesn't do it justice. Compared to stock, its so much loader on start up and lovely through the gears (even low rpms). Would highly recommend PCW. |
