What to buy
Hey guys,
I just moved to LA from Miami and I am in need of a new car. The thing is I can't make up my mind. I'm not sure If I should get the 335 M sport or 535 M sport. I feel the 3 series is a bit of a teenagers car and the 5 series is a bit of an old mans car. The 5 series price is a bit steep and so is the 335 with m sport for a mater a fact. Also I am a little disappointed in the fact they put an N20 in the 528i. I would love to stay with BMW but the prices have gone up pretty high (I think) and I'm not truly in love with any of the new cars. I would hate to end up getting a Range Rover Evoque. I feel I can't leave BMW as silly as that sounds. Any help or persuasion would help. Thanks

A loaded 335 M Sport is pretty similar price-wise to a similarly equipped 535 M Sport (within $5-7k). So if you want a 5 series, buy a 5 series.
Sounds like you've outgrown the 3 series and want to move to a different model. Why?

Calling the 3 series a "teenager's car" is a bit ridiculous - for one thing, teens cannot afford them, and for another, choosing a 3er or 5er isn't always about money - in many cases, it's about size preference. I prefer smaller, lighter cars and so I have no interest in a 5er or 7er.

But my question is, do you care what people think? Are you married or on the market? Do you have clientele that might see a 3 series in a negative light? The 5 series is now huge. Massive. I thought my M5 was big. The new 5 series is fairly numb to drive and feels like a barge. But if luxury and image are all you care about, 5 series is for you. If you enjoy driving, the 3 series is your car. If you're buying, I think resale on the 3 series might be better than the 5 series, something to consider. |
